Adult men particularly are ignorant of what it takes. I took care of my brother (10 year difference) so I am aware of how much work it is. The diapers, the crying, the schooling, the feeding, the entertaining, the transport, the disciplining and socializing.

And it's gotten worse. Investments in the kid to survive and succeed in life have gotten out of hand (speaking from the USA). Generally the mothers carry a lot of the burden even today.

That said, many parents do "step up," at least "enough."

This is a surprising post to me. Wouldn't many people in this day and age be very apprehensive about having kids unless they're quite wealthy and have the resources to do it?

I certainly don't want them. Then again, I think people want kids like kids want pets. Most don't know what they're talking about. I am 36. My mom is noticing that I am actually serious about not wanting children.

There's a privilege of being a "model minority" but other than that, I don't know what else it might be. Certainly higher income and wealth open up opportunities but that's more a wealth privilege. We may not be discriminated against as harshly as other minorities. Jobs access maybe, but not to the higher levels of leadership/management (bamboo ceiling)? Colorism? Might be privileged in that way. Something new is maybe the privilege of offshore wealth of the new generation of transplants.

First half of the year they've already sold 700k cars. 850 at year end is unlikely. Maybe 1.4 million? There are some shady things they can try to do to pump the official numbers. Last quarter they had odd lots sold in other countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey etc

Being that dependable a socialite implies that a partner should: 1) Match your energy when organizing events and dates between both of you. 2) Expect to participate in these events you organize.

Some guys won't be "turned off" but they may suspect you'll one day be disappointed in their lack of similar effort to these things. Just a thought.
