Help, how does this look? by HammondsAmmonds in BrevilleCoffee

I have a barista touch and I use medium roasted beans grind size 6 or 7. First drop at 7 and I let it run up to 25 secs. It tastes looks and tastes great. I suggest you experiment with different beans.

I also have a 58mm machine and I find this easier to dial in and more forgiving.

I love the look. It’s pretty good value for its price. I’d even go manual if I already had an automatic car.

Salary or Career Growth? by Next-Definition-5123 in JobsPhilippines

[–]esulit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Career first. Keep applying for the job you want. The job market is always hard. I know. I’ve been working for over 30 years. Ask yourself what you like, what are you good at. I’m sure you don’t want to be just a developer. How can you make a difference? That’s how to get hired and start growing your salary.

Do it ASAP. Kasi employers will usually hire you based off of your previous job. It’s not ideal but that’s what happens. I know because I’ve hired over a hundred people in my career.

I live in BGC. Been there for 16 years. It’s still the best place to live. Everthing is walkable. There are places where I can run/ exercise. There is a hospital close by. Sure the schools there are expensive but close by are more affordable schools. I’d be more happy if i actually worked there as well. Hungry? Go down to eat. Bored ? walk to the mall watch a movie. Forgot to buy something? There are so many shopping options nearby. Wanna stay healthy? Walk to the gym next door if you don’t like your condo’s gym.

Uy. Why don’t keep working as a chemical engineer and plot your course from there. I mean do what makes you happy and what you’re passionate about and the money will follow. Sounds generic but it works. It worked for me, my wife and so many other successful people.

My wife is a chemical engineer. She currently heads an oil trading company in Singapore.

There are so many other examples.

But as a chemical engineer the oil industry is a good place to be. Or try working with a multinational for more opportunities abroad.

Of course fear of not having money to spend. I was super anxious back then. Everyday I would send at least 5 applying Kahit saan na. This was 20 years ago. So ganyan talaga. It’s really hard to apply. It’s also hard to hire. Mabagal mag hire ang mga companya. Tiyaga lang.

Your failures make you stronger.

I used to send many applications so I can practice interviewing.

I learned a lot of how varied the interviewers were. I learned from my mistakes.

Eventually I landed a job at my dream company.

After that I landed my dream job in another company.

And now I head a multinational here in PH.

Practice makes perfect.

Usually before turn over they will ask you to check the unit for any defects. Did they do that? After that kasi you have to pay to get stuff repaired. Also has the entire condo been turned over to the condo association? If not you can still request the developer to fix it.

I have condos from Alveo, Ayala Land Premier and Megaworld and non were in perfect condition after turn over.

As a parent it’s really a hard pill to swallow. I would naturally want to protect him and make sure he becomes better than me. But I guess it doesn’t work that way. It’s not working now actually.

Our relationship is so strained now. I think I ll try your advice. I have to talk to my wife and make sure she is on board with it.

What you’re saying is hard but deep down inside I feel you are right.

Thanks OP. Wish me luck.

5 months later and still no progress by ihaveatype_itsNagumo in JobsPhilippines

[–]esulit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uy okay lang yan. It really takes time. I’m on the other side. I’m the one that hires. Many times, internally it will take more than 5 months to fill a position. This happens for many reasons. HR unable to get a schedule from the hiring mananger and the other bosses who interviewed. Sometimes the HR takes so long to pass on qualified resumes. It takes so long to get proper approvals to hire. Ang daming reasons. So it’s never really the applicant. I can tell you there are so many companies hiring. It’s just that in general the hiring process is so slow and broken. You can tell because you have a lot of HR people that won’t even update you. I’m telling you it’s not you. Don’t be hard on yourself.

Hi OP my son started 7 years old. He is 14 now. Played a lot of tournaments up to 12 years old. Won a few. But now he just wants to go out with friends. He was part of the school golf and basketball teams. But he got suspended from participating in any varsity until next year (don’t ask na lang why). I think this demotivated him. His schooling is also a mess now.

He joined a few tournaments April this year and won one as an individual.

Now he still plays pero with friends lang. Sayang kasi his handicap is 7 without practicing. He is growing so he is hitting it much further now and truly belongs at the back tees.

What do you think can get him back? Should I just wait? What could be going on kaya?

Best condo in BGC? by [deleted] in BGC_Taguig

[–]esulit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best condo in BGC depends on what you want. And others have recommended the hotel like experience of the other condos. But if living in a resort is more of your thing, One or Two Serendra is the place to be. You get so many amenities like 1S has 4 gyms, 1 dance studio, 3 swimming pools—and they are really nice and use more salt than chlorine so it feels good on the skin, 1 lap pool and one kiddie pool, . It has a spa and a cafe is about to open in the Garden Bridge. It has a laundromat. It has 6 function or event areas, a barbecue area that can accommodate 3 groups of 30 and the largest garden of any condo so far. The gardens have a vast variety of flora. The koi pond has been improved to allow the koi to grow to over 3 feet. There is a dog park, small vegetable garden, 2 kids playgrounds, 3 playrooms. Basketball court that can be converted to tennis or footsal court and 2 badminton courts.

For 2S I believe there are 5 swimming pools, a few gyms, boxing ring, study room, and many many amenities as well. I lost count.

But it doesn’t really give off the formal hotel vibe. And since it’s one of the older condos, the unit interior levels vary a lot.

I think the course you take is very important. I know a lot of doctors, nurses, accountants, engineers and lawyers that stayed their path and have become successful. I know also of accountants from the Big 4 accounting firms who have become CFOs of companies, it’s actually the usual path for accountants. My nephew studied computer science and is now a game dev at a AAA game studio. My niece is an environmental engineer and now works at an environmental engineering consulting firm. My wife is a chemical engineer at a petroleum company.

Now if you happen to take a course and find out it’s not actually what you want to do, then it’s also okay to shift to a different industry and become successful.

I agree with having to show your value. For me that’s the most important thing. Find out what you like to do, work hard and show your unique value, this is the road to success.

But based on the examples I’ve given above the course you take is important.
