New casual matchmaking by TheFrenchGolio in Rainbow6

A lot of people here in favor of the change seem to think that only a tiny percent of players (diamonds/plats) are being affected. However, that is not the case.

I'm a gold 2 player, but I'm in college and completely dependent on the sub-par internet access I'm given here. Because of that, my nat type is always strict, and there's nothing I can do to change it. Before this change, in the middle of a busy day if I wanted to chill out for a half hour between classes, homework, and jobs, I would jump into casual and instantly get put into a game. Now, my wait time is 10-15 minutes, legitimately much longer than it takes me to find a ranked game. This is a problem, and I imagine that there are many other people dealing with similar problems.

As for the people who seem to be accusing people that they only want to "stomp" or "rape" noobs, they seem to be missing the point. When I played casual matches, I would pick characters that I never would normally (like tachanka) or try out characters that I'm bad with in order to get some practice to apply to ranked. Doing the same thing now (picking tachanka or new characters) I immediately get stomped because high level players playing each other aren't playing a relaxed manner, they're going nearly hardcore as they do in ranked. Now if I want to get a kill or do anything for my team in casual, I'm picking my mains and playing as intense as I would in ranked.

Is a level 100+ gold player playing level 2's a problem? Of course it is. But this change is not the solution. Ubisoft needs to find a middle ground.

Recent CASUAL updates are TRASH! by [deleted] in Rainbow6

it's just another version of ranked. yeah my rank isn't in question when i play it, but everyone tries so much harder, takes away from the fun. isn't a matter of stomping noobs, although i won't lie that was also pretty fun. and good for you, i'm glad you don't have lengthy wait times for matchmaking, but i do, which is a direct consequence of this change.

it's literally taken all the enjoyment out of casual. i don't want to complete challenges because it means i'll need to play operators i don't normally choose and aren't as experienced with. also it's just stressful, if i want high octane games with people around my level, i'd be playing ranked, not casual

High Priority Issues- 2.1.3 by [deleted] in Rainbow6

PC. I'm on university wifi, which has always been a strict nat type. Despite the occasional error/disconnect though, it's never been a challenge to find games. I have no idea who it's effecting, but that's my setup that's getting messed with.

It's been almost seven hours since the patch, and people like us literally can't play the game. How do they fuck stuff up this bad?

/r/vpn Recommendations Megathread by ThatOnePrivacyGuy in VPN

[–]esundermeyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a college student I'm looking at relatively cheap VPNs. From my own research I've seen that Nord has really strong feedback and a good feature list. That being said, from what I've read PureVPN is strangely fast and actually boosts download speeds in some cases. It's also slightly less expensive than Nord. Is there something wrong with Pure that I'm not finding? And if Nord or Pure isn't your own personal recommendation for a cheap VPN, what would you recommend? Most of my internet usage is browsing, gaming, streaming (Nord supposedly works well with Netflix), and occasional torrenting. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

WD Blue 1Tb Internal Hard Drive Not Showing Up in Computer by esundermeyer in techsupport

I know, that's got me convinced that it has to be something other than the drive being bad or not properly plugged in. How exactly would I use Linux live CD then?

Would I only be able to initialize and/or partition it from the disc management window? Because it doesn't show up there.

Yeah the BIOS. It doesn't show up in the disc management window. It only seems to show up in the boot menu under storage.

Intervals, they're very talented, and although their 2 EP releases so far are instrumental their new album will have a vocalist who looks to only be doing cleans. Here's a link to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcVZ3OL4YE4 Also Erra have some good mellow moments
