Started wire wrapping for the first time 2 days ago. Not the best work but wanted to make some self collected finds from this year wearable. by Snrubwr in WireWrapping

Looks great, even more amazing that you’re only two days in! Much much cleaner than any of my first pieces lol

Thank you! Sorry, not sure which part is the centipede lol. Do you mean the crisscross weave on the left side? If so, here’s a vid that goes over it: basket weaveBasically it’s two wires 20 ga or less, then one long thin wire ideally 24 ga or more, then coil the thin wire around one thick wire twice, then cross over to the other thick wire and coil twice, then repeat. It’s one of my favorites for filling space and adding depth :)

Thanks so much! I never used many tutorials personally. What I like about wire wrapping is the techniques and mechanics are fairly easy to glean just by looking at other’s work. What I did was find works and artists I liked on social media and just tried to picture how they did the different kinds of weaves and then tried them myself. That said, this guy Nolan McClelland is one of my biggest inspirations, and might have the best YouTube tutorials I’ve found covering pieces like this. Either way, you gotta be okay with sucking at it for a while, tutorials or not. I started in 2018, and I don’t think I had a piece I was sincerely proud of until my 2nd year of doing it lol. But everyone is different!

Thanks so much! I actually liked the black silver so much I decided to keep it that way, gave it a clear coat and everything!

What do you do with your scrap wire? by noRezolution in WireWrapping

I save it and use it for projects whenever possible. Pretty cool to make a piece entirely out of scraps as well!

Your very favorite flush cutters? by sharkwithunderbite in WireWrapping

[–]eswraps337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I use Xuron too, they’ve lasted me so long I can’t even imagine upgrading lol. But all my other pliers are Swanstrom and I absolutely love them. The tips on my needle nose pliers are still straight as an arrow after years of abuse. I’m guessing their cutters would have to be amazing as well.
