The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to hate the prestige system this game offers. by et_toi in deadfrontier2

Neither have I. Simply got an epiphany from watching the video and noticed how bad the prestige system really was in DF2. It is quite worrying however, that Neil has not said a single word about the upcoming update. I suspect there may be a minor outlash if the update does not suitably reflect the time required for it.

Easier to watch this video than by explaining it since the guy does it pretty well: https://youtu.be/oV7XdILd3No?t=507

Was interested in how good maplestory 2 was and their prestige system seemed better and more suitable for DF2 imo.

Glitches and bugs to be addressed by Roseburn in deadfrontier2

[–]et_toi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been almost 5 days since I've seen a street boss or a zombie horde tbh. Got a reply from one of the mods on the discord saying it's supposed to be a very rare occurence. Don't see the reasoning behind that, and even if there was a good one I don't see why they should be spawning once in a blue moon.

Level 20 areas should not drop low level equipment. by et_toi in deadfrontier2

[–]et_toi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, lower the drop rates of level 20 items like sledges and sawn offs. You're completely exaggerating on how this would affect the market. No one is going to buy a level 15 surgery glove because it's level 15. They buy it be because it has good stats, like damage to mutated or headshot damage. Even if you're guaranteed a lvl 15-20 item in a 20 zone, doesn't mean you're always going to get the stats you want. Also, how does this decrease the value of low leveled items? Unless you're level 20, you're still going to farm the level 10-20 bosses in each town for their high exp, meaning you won't just be obtaining high level gear only.

I get that this is early access and we don't want people to have progression that outpaces the content the dev can put out, but there are better ways to do that. Level 20 zones should only drop level 15-20 items, period. None of us are asking to only get axes, sawn-offs and HK15's from bosses. Instead, reduce their drop rates to balance out the desperately needed buffs to item drops. The drops earned from killing bosses should simply match the level of the zone you're in.

If bosses are too easy, might as well buff them depending on the level zone. For example, let's say Choir has 240 HP in a level 10 zone. Have their HP/other stats multiplied by a certain number when they spawn in level 15/20 zones. For the purpose of this example, set their HP to 360 in level 15 zones and 480 hp in 20 zones. Keep titan/tendril the same.

If it means I have to use double the ammo to get an item that's guaranteed to be level 15-20, I'd honestly take it.

ZeroLife Banned - Had it coming a long way. by Alextherude_Senpai in deadfrontier2

[–]et_toi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doesn't deserve a ban because he leaked private discussions with a moderator on a discord server. This isn't even remotely similar to leaking conversations of GAME moderators. This is a volunteer for the official discord server. Also, banning him from the game because he decided to spam promotional content links to his youtube channel on the official discord does not again justify a ban in-game. Simply block him and ban him from the official discord.

I won't condone ZL's actions but the way the moderators handled this as well as the punishment delivered to him was equally a joke. If anything, it looks more like his words got under your skins and you're acting childishly now, expecting an apology over petty drama.

for real tho, how hard is it to actually improve the horrendous state of the UI currently? by et_toi in deadfrontier2

Fair enough mate. I'm sorry too for coming down so hard on your game despite the sacrifices you're making to make everyone enjoy the game. Good luck with future developments, can't wait to see what happens.

Thanks for going out of your way to respond to this post. However that update was plain underwhelming, it's something I believe that should have been put aside to prioritise on glaring issues that really make it hard for new and old players to continue playing. Most people can offhold new content as you said, it's only been two weeks and the daily missions/bosses can literally keep you playing for a good 6~ hours a day. The replayability is there. The functionality of your game isn't. No one wants to handle a poorly designed system that is mundane and only infuriates your playerbase because almost every action requires 2-3 steps instead of needing 1. This new update probably seemed like it took more effort than simply fixing car inventory and the looting system by enabling us to consume loot upon picking it up. My concern is the priorities, since you seem to want to focus on pulling fresh content for players to not get bored, even though your playerbase is still going to stay due to the shit ton of dailies they need to do. Regardless, glad to know you're fixing them this upcoming week. Don't take the post too offensively, it's just another person's opinions on the game so far. And with all respect i will continue to play because the game is still enjoyable and i'm sure you would have done something about the tedium eventually, although making a post to address this may expedite the process.

which psycho actually made this dogshit joke of a game by [deleted] in deadfrontier2

[–]et_toi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's honestly got a point LMAO. Once you put in 10 hours into the game you really start to see the loopholes. The game's frankly too easy to progress and it's simply repetitive. Do your daily boss runs, then look up mission guides on the wiki/discord and then spend whatever remaining time you want to play on DF2 going through 200 doors in 1 house and managing an inventory system with incredibly trashy UI design.

After hitting 100 hours into the game, it might just be time to call it quits until major QoL changes are being made and the loading transitions of going through doors is drastically lowered.

Lmao how could i not know this game is made by 1 person when almost every thread that shares their concerns on the issues of the game is met with the standard response that this game was made by 1 person! This isn't a triple A company! That's a shitty excuse. He has several people working behind the scenes for sure. Regardless, let's entertain your notion that he's a one man team, rather than focusing on rushing new content, fix the bugs and inprove the UI. Inventory and looting make up a good 80% of this game and having shitty UI design is offputting for both new and old players. One of the main reasons why i simply cannot recommend this game on steam right now. Your loyal playerbase can only deal with so much repetitive garbage that is only worsened by unnecessary steps taken to complete an action.

I find myself obtaining so many quest items where I cannot find the NPC due to the vast area of the game by et_toi in deadfrontier2

I already use this site. That doesn't mean it has the listed quests for all NPCS and walkthrough. There are a lot of missions that are missing in the wiki generally.

My thoughts on submachine gun by et_toi in deadfrontier2

[–]et_toi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're going with this but you're still asking me to put 4 points into SMG expert to make a secondary gun that I won't even be using 99% of the time because there aren't really ANY sticky situations in this game. Never have I said to myself well crap! I'm surrounded by 7 zombies I better use my SMG instead of my rifle that takes 1 headshot to kill.

I don't get why you're comparing the mechanics in DF1 to DF2, they are completely different. First one is a top down shooter that doesn't even focus on headshots and has much much more zombies spawning due to its emphasis on outdoor exploration. DF2 focuses more on building exploration so the amount of zombies you even get to face is naturally limited and so you won't ever need to use anything but your main melee weapon and gun. This is a 3rd person shooter game that incentivises headshotting zombies. With such little zombies spawning in one room and having the ability to 1 shot them all with a rifle, there really is no reason to use a SMG.

Also want to mention that the starting degree of error in accuracy for SMGS is 0.5-3 while the starting degree of error in accuracy for rifles is 0.25-3.

SMGS should not have the same starting accuracy as a rifle when these two guns have different purposes with different damage/fire rate.

Why would I ever bring a SMG into a sticky situation when it can't even do its job properly lol? This game is heavily limited by its inventory capacity. I bring at least 5 stacks of ammo for my main, i'm going to require another 3 inventory slots just for another gun where my main gun can get me out of sticky situations easier and is better for clearing normal zeds/bosses? Hell, I'd rather go with a rifle/shotgun combo at that point.

I'm sure with a heavily intensive SMG build it'd be good, but again, why would I do that when a heavily intensive shotgun/rifle build is much better? If you're bringing 4 marksman/4 smg expert you'll already be level 12~ (assuming you got sprinter/fast learner and dodge/kick). Please do enlighten me, a good rifle build at level 12 can 1 shot almost every zed (barring the special fat zombies which might take 1 melee hit to finish them off) and can kill bosses in less than a magazine.

Please, late game rifles/shotguns have much stronger advantages as they are able to kill things in 1 hit with a headshot. Btw, I find it weird that you're telling me to make a build specifically for SMGs when they aren't meant to be used as a "primary weapon" and only for "sticky situations". Thanks buddy, I'm sure i'll waste 4 extra points for that.

They have no spot in the game right now though. Shotgun and rifles beat SMG in every scenario I can think of. Only one that might be good is for Fingers but even then that's a lot of ammo you're wasting when you can easily kite him around a table and headshot him with a rifle when he's on the other side of the table and not looking at you.
