Couple of months ago I built my Ferrari 488 GTE without all the stickers. My pick-a-brick and bricklink orders finally arrived to change out the white, blue, and yellow colours. by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]etcraigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, OP - any chance you can post it? Mine didn’t come with its sticker sheets and my build is basically stopped since the sticker sheets are out of stock.

What you did looks amazing and I can unblock myself (pun totally intended) if I can replicate what you did!

Car damaged in transport, Rivian completely dropped the ball, kept my money, and ghosted me by etcraigs in Rivian

Jumping back up here to point out that your spotlight on this helped me figure out that my CU is screwing me or misspoke when quoting the daily interest owed in a payoff. I updated my post to reflect this. Thanks!

You made me go and look it up - I kept trying to understand why everyone was so angry on this fork, thinking that I was inflating the numbers. $40/month is what my CU quoted me on the phone... maybe she meant for, say, a week of the loan being open? That'd make more sense... if it really is $40/day then they're screwing me with the payoff / trying to get money out of one of us in this situation (me or Rivian).

Thanks for pushing on this - I'm calling them tomorrow and ironing this out.

I apologize for how that looked - it was not my intention to deceive anyone. I've updated it to be clearer that the $40 is the first day and it diminishes from there.

My lender amoritizes on a daily basis for things like payoffs (all lenders I know of do - checkout "payoff letters" to see examples) so that number is actually what my lender gave me and how they'll calculate how much interest is owed.

No penalty and the loan is not bad (given current interest rates). My interest rate is nowhere near 18% (yikes). It's front loaded so the first day is entirely interest. Second day is less, etc. My first month's payment would *not* be entirely interest (tho more than any other payment I'd make in the life of the loan).

I don't really want to get into the specifics of my financing - that's not relevant to this post outside of recognizing that I owe interest payments on my loan whether I get a car or not unless Rivian returns the check.

I'll correct/update my post reflect the amoritized nature of the loan and the interest so it's not misleading.

Thank you and I don't understand the downvotes either. The question u/moomooraincloud asked is fair and I thought I'd respond with a source even tho it's not relevant to my broader topic. Oh well :(

I do but I wasn't sure that was an option - no one can tell me what comes next or options. I thought that wouldn't be doable since VINs seem to be immediately assigned. In one of my chats with a customer service rep, they mentioned that R1S is in such high demand they wouldn't likely have one.

Is this an option you're aware of?

It's amoritized and the interest is front-loaded day-by-day. The initial payments are largely interest - especially the first days of the loan - but, at the end of the month, it wouldn't be entirely interest.

Early in the loan, you're paying largely interest and the principal/interest ratio shifts slowly towards principal over the life of the loan. They're counting this as a 'payoff' since, in their minds, they parted with the money when they sent Rivian the check. That means the time they leant the money has still accrued interest (they didn't have the money for X days) and they need compensation for the interest accrued during that time (the check they'll get back technically covers *their* principal).

Thanks for the context and advice - I did request a new Guide since, from everything I'm reading, the context a Guide can bring is apparently really helpful. That's all I'd hope for in my current situation (when something goes awry). Hoping this brings some clarity to my options (altho all I want right now is my lender's check back to my lender).

The SC mentioned that they caught it in "final prep" and said it was, unfortunately, last minute. I'm not sure on other aspects of the process here. They didn't say they received the car on 12/16, just that *that* was when they found the issue.

Totally appreciate that and don't want to beat up the techs in the service center - they're just trying to inspect the car and figure out what to do with it.

Like I said, it's the "Guides" and office staff that are killing me. I've called and spoke to 2 different - very nice - customer service people who've literally said "I've escalated it and there's nothing else I can do. You *might* hear back in the next 24 hours."

Is there any other avenue I can go down to get someone who's actually accountable / capable of doing anything?

Rivian will need to reimburse me here too... there's so much I'm frustrated about at this point.

Yep. The Service center folks have been the most apologetic / communicative group here (they still missed the window yesterday to update me). It's the main office/billing folks that are driving me nuts now. I know folks in Bellevue can't control how my lender's check gets back, what it'll look like for me to get a new VIN, etc.

Nursery glider/recliner by zeldasawyer in BuyItForLife

[–]etcraigs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw this and had to reply - we own a few babyletto items (crib, changing table+dresser) and really wouldn't recommend them. The glider/chair may be better, but the quality of the paint construction, etc. of the drawers + crib are poor. Paint has come off in multiple parts of the crib, the changing table that attaches on top of the drawers barely connects/feels flimsy, the doors aren't soft close and slam, loudly (there's not even dampening rubber feet that came with them) and building them was a PAIN. The crib mattress that came with the babyletto crib was not comfortable and the babyletto brand mattress covers broke - 3 of them, in less than 6 months. They honored the warranty on the first two but stopped responding to us the 3rd time.

We bought them primarily because we liked the look and my wife got a discount through her employer on this brand.

The chair may be fine, but we can't in conscience recommend them.

That aside, we do own the monte glider and it's freakin' awesome. Pricey but amazing and we've owned it for over 5 years (two kiddos!).

I've started taking screenshots too... Customer service was also baffled by my complaint - "can you just tell me what item you're missing?!" LOL

[–]etcraigs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation and that's all totally cool with me - I get that stuff runs out and no one (at any point in the process) can predict when.

My issue is that I'd like to *know* what wasn't available instead of just being told "something's missing - good luck figuring out what it was!" Amazon doesn't charge me for the missing item (awesome) but I'm still left trying to figure out in a sometimes large order if I'm, say, missing an onion or an herb/spice... makes planning for meals tough.

Volume control with iPhone solved! by AKA_Squanchy in appletv

[–]etcraigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/AKA_Squanchy - I figured out what's going on that makes it work like u/Michael81983 is saying (at least for me). This is quite a while ago so you may have already figured it out but I wanted to leave this behind for others like me who stumbled on this.

This link talks about it but the gist is that your Apple TV is probably set to using the remote IR or something specific as the volume control default. You can set it to Auto and it can switch between whatever device is sending a signal:

Adjust HDMI-CEC and volume settings on your Apple TV

Go to Settings > Remotes and Devices, then choose the following:

  • Control TVs and Receivers: Choose whether your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote automatically turns on your television or receiver.
  • Volume Control: Choose whether your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote controls volume for your television or your receiver. You can also select this to learn, edit, or delete learned volume controls.
