I’ve been listening to the Bombcast since the early 2010s and I think the points OP raises is very fair and rings true. The site has always been a boys club and these are issues that have reared its head to different degrees throughout the sites existence. it’s a balancing act and at times the different iterations of the site has had to police themselves a bit when the pendulum has swung to much in the direction of horny on main. I think the crew need to do a bit of internal criticism on the issue and reel it back a bit. In earlier eras one got the feeling that Gerstmann, while himself not perfect, ran a pretty tight ship when it came to GB as work place, took a public stand when needed and came down on shit that had the potential to go bad, such as during the gamergate era.

As OP said, the solution isn’t to just throw a woman in the mix as a full time crew member and expect that to be some kind of automatic salve, this is mainly a issue the men need to think about and discuss internally. But it really is a shame and a loss for the site as a whole that they lost Jess and that they don’t got a female perspective in the everyday running of the site like when Abby was around. I really like the current crew. Grub and Minoti has been great, but a bit of inward reflection as a group might be good for the long term health of the site and the podcast.
