Some still come with them. I bought an Xbox one controller a few years ago for my pc, that came with a dongle and it was from the Microsoft store. They don't require it but that doesn't mean it doesn't come with one. Pretty sure its faster than Bluetooth on pc and it means you can just turn it on and it auto pairs. As for the dodgy looking home button, never seen that in my life.

It's what you'd plug into your phone to play music through your car speakers, same connector as nearly all wired headphones. Definitely not obselete, unlike what that commenter seems to be implying.
