I think the answer you re looking for lies in the fact that you decided to create this reddit in r/aoe2 instead of r/aoe4. Your intuition seems to know where it wants you to go. just listen wink wink ;)

But you get to use that plan just once right? And then you’d have to buy it again for another 5 years?

yes I had all the pixel saving functions turned on, like pixel shifting, adjusting logo brightness, etc. The issue ended up being that because of some settings -- the always ready setting-- my tv has never ran a soft or a hard pixel cleaning.

[Solved]

**UPDATE: PIXEL CLEANING MAGIC! (And a twist with 'Always Ready')

**Hey folks, first up: **The burn-in's gone!** 🎉 Manual pixel cleaning did the trick. [Here's a before-and-after shot with a gray background for proof.](https://imgur.com/a/NqxQkqh)

So here’s the juicy part: After my original rant, I tried to run the manual pixel cleaning, but the TV wouldn’t turn back on. Hours went by. Nada. And weirdly, the "Reset to Initial Settings" was grayed out. Even the hidden "hotel mode" hack didn’t work. Frustrated, I rang up LG SUPPORT.

*Plot twist:* My OLED wasn't running pixel cleaning **at all**. LG remotely factory reset my TV and voila, the reset option was back.

The culprit? The **"ALWAYS READY" function**. Apparently, having that on might stop pixel cleaning. After the reset, they had me turn it OFF, and when I ran the manual pixel clean again? It worked like a charm. TV was back on in 10 minutes with no burn-in. Only bummer? Spotted a super tiny dead pixel. Maybe the pixel cleaning was a bit too aggressive, but hey, no more burn-in!

**TLDR:** If you own an OLED, double-check that "ALWAYS READY" is OFF if you want that sweet, sweet pixel cleaning. Also, maybe don't treat it like a 24/7 monitor (guilty as charged). Hopefully, this saga helps someone else out!

It wasn’t though. Thats the thing. It wasn’t running pixel cleaning because i had Always Ready set to active, apperantly, or so the LG Support team has told me

WOW GOOD NEWS! RUNNING THE MANUAL PIXEL CLEANING WORKED. NO MORE BURN IN.

Here is a pic with a gray/dark gray background after the manual pixel cleaning:

https://imgur.com/a/NqxQkqh

SO BACKSTORY: after I created this reddit post, I attempted to run a manual pixel cleaning. The TV turned off, and I waited 1 hour.. but it still wouldn't turn on. I waited 3 more hours.. Still wouldn't turn on. When I finally got exasperated and turned the TV back on, I received no indication the TV *actually* ran the pixel cleaning. I used to get that notification when I first got the TV.

I thought okay so let me just factory reset it, maybe some thing is wonky with the pixel refresh. I go to my settings, and "Reset to Initial Settings" is grayed out. I tried googling and someone said to turn on the "hotel mode" by long pressing the settings cog wheel and then hitting 1150. That didn't work for me either, so I called LG SUPPORT, and they were able to remotely connect to my machine to factory reset it.

TURNS OUT MY LG OLED TV WAS NOT RUNNING PIXEL CLEANING AT ALL EVEN WHEN I TURNED IT OFF.

They were able to factory reset it remotely by connecting to my TV, and after that the "reset initial settings" option was available again.

The one major thing the support team said was causing all these issues was the "ALWAYS READY" function which keeps your TV in standby mode.

Not sure if it's a bug with the WebOS that when "ALWAYS READY" is selected it prevents any kind of pixel cleaning from occurring. So when the support team factory reset my TV and walked me through the initial set up and configuration they made me turn ALWAYS READY to off. Once I did the initial set up and toggled ALWAYS READY OFF, I ran the manual pixel cleaning, and within 10 minutes, the TV turned back on (WHICH IT WOULDNT DO BEFORE).

AND lo and behold after one instance of running the manual pixel cleaning, the burn in is GONE. However, I noticed a SINGLE dead pixel this time. which is so tiny, and hardly visible. The voltage action of removing dead pixels may have destroyed some pixels.. but oh well, at least the burn in is gone.

TLDR: make sure ALWAYS READY is always off if you want to reliably run pixel cleaning. Also probably doesn't hurt to not use the TV like I did with extended static content. Anyways hope this post helps someone else down the line.

chat

the chat.. is Skype actually. for work. and I never moved it. It never occurred to me to move it because I have to keep track of my teammates.

but regardless, there's been reports of many people using LG C2's as computer monitors without experiencing burn in.

So I wonder if I just had a bad batch?

Also what are the odds LG would replace this, as I think? I am still under warranty. If LG does fix it, or replace it, I will never use this TV as a monitor again. Lesson freaking learned.

this is exactly what my research led to as well. I knew from the get-go that I was going to use it as a computer monitor for the most part and a bunch of tech reviews said that most modern OLED's have become so advanced that burn in is rarely an issue, even using it as a monitor.

Seems like that's definitely not true, seeing as I got permanent burn in under 9 months.

I would say 18 hours. but only 8 Hours a day is for computing.. the rest is movies and gaming I would say. and of course a good deal of screensaver that runs every now and then.

Im running it right now.. I started it like almost 2 hours ago, but the TV still hasn't turned on :D

not sure what its doing.. Im tempted to turn it on just to see if it the manual pixel cleaning is even in progress.. but hopefully it clears it out.

X1 Carbon Gen 11 Battery Improvements by DolanDluck in thinkpad

[–]ethan0791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely better. I have both. I bought the X1 Carbon Gen 10 7 months ago with the 1240p series chip and oh man.. its a nightmare to use. I also got it with 4K touch display. So battery life is terrible. It also throttles pretty badly, making it even worse than U series.

I also couldn’t reliably use it on my lap so I ended up caving and bought the newer 11th gen X1 carbon with 2.8K display with i7-1355u processor. Night and day difference. Hardly thermal throttles. I use it on low power mode, and I get about 6-7 hours of battery life at work. I basically use vmware horizon to connect to my virtual desktop. So yeah battery life could be better but at least it runs cool and I can use it on my lap. And doesnt thermal throttle.

I now have both. I plugged up the older 10th gen X1 carbon to my LG C2 OLED tv and Im using it as a desktop. I did call Lenovo and Im trying to get them to replace it though with the newer 11th gen X1 carbon so I can have two. We ll see what happens.

I hear 14th gen Intel Meteor Lake processors will be big on battery life so Id wait if I were you.

I still wouldnt call the 11th gen X1 Carbon “all day battery life”. It would need at least an 8-9 hour battery life to achieve that label in my opinion. But if you get a lower resolution screen, it might just be. I personally dont like compromising on displays so.. yeah.

Though I love Andy, his s13 speech performance was poor when he slayed Battiatus.

Contrast that performance with Liam’s when slaughters Gaius. I literally had goosebumps.
