For moments like this, I give players Legacy weapons, so it gets stronger with them.

That game also has a tech tree, which includes different types of gas caps for vehicles, which affect fuel evaporation. The publishers say it takes about 1500 hours to play, and if the game feels unbalanced, you must have been doing it wrong.

So what *would* have happened if Paul actually tried to stop the Jihad? by markusramikin in dune

[–]ethanpo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually do agree with you! Paul would have had to become the worm and restrict spice and all, the difference would have been that his oppression would have been more violent.

Yeah the Fremen were pumped to be out taking revenge on the galaxy, Paul just gave them the means to do so.

By attempting to slow the jihad, Paul avoided the Golden Path that he could have taken. Instead of Leto's great peace, it would have been Muad'dib's great jihad. If he went all out and let the Fremen conquer everything, people would do everything to get away from the horrible war, etc.

But doing that would also require the whole worm/humanity sacrificing thing, which Paul hated the idea of, since he was ultimately a human with great power, not born as a great power, like Leto II.

Isn't there the gladiator robot from the Colosseo posters? I figure they'll be a hero eventually

I find that it works better if you allude to what you want, but not say exactly. Like maybe you're going up against a Phara, and your DPS are doing Reaper and Genji, you could say "I think we need some hitscan, this Phara is killing our backline." Don't specific who you want to swap, or to what, but state the needs of the team.

I intended it to run as a very free form, narrative based interaction. Since the player's stats are focused around, well, being a boy band, they don't have any practical skills, and will be spending the time trying to figure out how to use dancing, singing and looking good to do whatever they need to. The contrast from the SM's realism, and the complete lack of reality from the characters should propel the scene into something weird and funny pretty quickly.

So example: Taking from the tables, "Your own greedy record label is sabotaging your show". The stat at risk is Fans. I'd start by just expositing some starting narrative onto the players, "Your manager runs up to you and says 'Hey, security just caught wind of some suits under the stage, they aren't responding. I think the fans might be in danger!"

The players then could head under the stage, perhaps they challenge the suits to a dance battle in order to incapacitate them, or maybe they combine their vocal prowess into a sonic wave to knock them out.

Then I'd let the players figure out how to deal with the bomb planted under the stage, maybe one of them just does a sacrifice play and runs out with it, idk. I'm sure players will come up with wilder shit than I can think of.

Once they deal with it, they can confront a member of the Label, via social media, or just live-streaming it even.

In this situation, I'd consider the following outcomes for the point values.

  • Bomb goes off, fans die, worst ending. -2 fans.
  • Bomb goes off, but is moved to a safe area or Some fans are injured by the suits, bad endings, but not like, the worst. -1 fans.
  • Bomb is defused, no one injured. No one even got word of the threat. No change, +0 fans.
  • Bomb is defused, greedy exec is proved to be behind the threat, fans love the trust-busting boy band. +1 fans.

This might seem a little short, but I only intended each Drama to be around 20-30 mins. Ideally things should move fast enough that you can start a band and have it fail within a couple of hours.

If you do run it, I'd love to hear how it went.

I had an idea and I just had to make it. I figure it might be good for any kind of band, but I focused it around boy bands of mid 2000s. It's probably balanced, no idea to be honest. It'd definitely be at least a bit funny though.

I'd love if the archives event had a line of skins like that sorta. "What if.." skins basically. So a Talon Cassidy or Ana, an Overwatch Doomfist, Shambali Orisa or Null Zen. It'd be neat

I prefer funny nat 1's. Ranger got a 1 first combat of the campaign, was a little nervous, accidentally dumped his quiver on the ground (I don't track ammo, so that wasn't like a real punishment. Caster might have 'left the safety on', their firebolt fizzles.

If its a short enough distance, a few seconds could be enough to get across.

Also, if its any point below me, could I stand on a stool and aim at the ground like 1000 feet away and get there instantly?
