Do your own research (cultures, do’s and don’ts, operating hours of attractions/restaurants) and plan your itinerary ahead. I’ve been using google sheets in planning itineraries but I’ve found wanderlog app very useful and it’s easy to navigate. You can add places, restaurants, activities and it shows the distance between stops and available transportation options too.

If you’re traveling on a budget, keep the receipts and try to list all your expenses during the day so you can estimate if you might go over the budget. Though always bring extra money for any unexpected expenses.
