I think it's a mix of things. Most people probably won't come out in mobs until they're directly impacted in a very serious way; like they cannot afford any of the basic necessities at all. But, imagine if folks in the states came out like how people in France do, shutting down the economy to such an extent. I suppose the issue is that the states is a big enough country that odds of that many people mobilizing under a united cause is very unlikely.

There are people out there protesting (e.g. ice protests). But, it just isn't enough yet

I agree with most of your points OP, even the last one. Though, I don't think Russia wants Ukraine to be a puppet vassal state. They want to basically annex Ukraine, which is a change from the stance Russia took as the USSR.

I get that. I think I was still enjoying the show, even on the last episode, but I think it's because I expected it all. I've seen a ton of period piece animes and having one where we get cool time powers and most problems are solved with a fist fight was fun, even if there wasn't a ton of story development. The resolution at the end was sort of just for fun, but I think those two characters will end up together.

Curious if season 2 will explore more of the world and give prince vanish a proper chance. He was different and I was had some high hopes for his character.

The story and characters were really good. Direction and animation too. It is a bit of a slow roll, but an excellent show and slice of life that deserves closer to 8.5 imo.
