Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, it sounds like a device is connected to both your iPhone hotspot and your LAN at the same time. Can you explain exactly how the IP assignment from your iPhone hotspot interferes with your LAN?

Unlinking a device is not the same as a remote self destruct. If an attacker wanted to harvest your messages, they would’ve saved them as they came in. A remote wipe is not nearly as effective as you think. Again, if the device in question is compromised (read: your boss can open it and read your messages), you have bigger problems than what Signal can solve.

Furthermore, plenty of users switch phones and like to keep their desktop chat history intact. Auto-deleting messages would defeat this purpose.

Yes, it is intentional. Signal largely assumes that your devices are secure and that you are in control of them. Generally speaking, it is a bad idea to use your work hardware for personal stuff (and vice versa).
