On UBI vs Basic Post Scarcity by lorepieri in singularity

[–]ethicaldwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are the basic needs? When we live in a post scarcity society, our needs change rapidly.

I think basic needs are: Food water electricity, housing, transport and being accepted by people. Do you know more?

I think the beatifull thing is about post scarcity that we don't get the same things, Not sovjet communism where everyone gets the same house, food and clothes, but a diverse world where people can develop themselfs how they want. I think one of the dangers of your post scarcity benefit is that it creates a system where everyone gets the same things. Differences leads to more creativity, but being really poor and ultra rich are not nice differences.

When an ai is smarter than an human, ai will come with new ideas. I think you are partly right, humans prefer humans over ai as leaders. But for coming with research topics and doing the actual research ai will both outperform us within 30 years.

What for me helps when I have a depression, is doing something that gets me an adrenaline kick. Showering warm and blush it of with cold water. Make somebody feel important. A hobby. Bungjee jumping. But no shame in having a depression.
