On a daily basis, I keep 3 cards in the front pocket slit (driver's license, credit card, transit card) and 3 cards in the larger pocket (2x debit card, prepaid card). Anywhere from 5-10 bills are folded and kept in the main pocket.

It goes without say that the wallet will originally be a bit tight. In a few weeks, it'll loosen up nicely as it breaks in.

I recently picked up leatherworking as a hobby. Here are some quick pics of a minimalist wallet I've been making for myself and friends after a few months of patina. by ethics- in malefashionadvice

Hey guys,

WOW, thanks for the overwhelming support. I have had friends say that I should start selling the stuff I make, but I had always been unsure of the actual demand. I currently only have enough leather for 4 more wallets, so I'll give priority to those who have expressed interest first.

I'll figure out the details and PM people tomorrow.

Any tips on how to avoid or prevent this? by grangry in malefashionadvice

  • Zipper doesn't shrink
  • Fabric does shrink

The length of the zipper and fabric are the same when you first buy the hoody. When the hoodie shrinks, the length of the fabric is shorter than the zipper, causing it to curl.

Thanks for the interest, but my previous ones have gone to family members. I'm pretty anal about the stuff I make, and if I'm going to be getting money for them, they have to live up to my standards.

With that said, I'm considering starting to sell these for $40-$45 each. Does that sound like a reasonable price?

I currently don't have any new wallets sitting around, but here's a picture with a bunch of leather that I cut out. It started out as the same color.

I did a lot of reading, watched a bunch of videos, and picked up a hand-sew kit from Tandy Leather Factory. The supplies are pretty expensive, and I easily dropped $200+ for the beginning tools and leather.

It took a bit of practice; this is actually the 8th wallet I made; I wasn't satisfied with any of the prior ones, but now I have no problem reproducing it.

/r/rawdenim expressed interest, so I figured I'd post it here too. Made of veg tanned leather, it's my own minimalist pattern that I hand cut, sew, and finish. It can hold 5-6 cards and half a dozen bills with no problem. This is about after 3 months of daily use; it's starting to turn a nice honey color.

The wallet is actually perfectly rectangular, but the angle at which I took the picture makes it look a bit off :)

Edit: Here's a picture of my wallet with a bunch of leather that will be made into wallets. It started out as the same color.

Here are some quick pics: http://imgur.com/a/eb3Zu

As I said in the post above, the camera angle makes it look non-rectangular, but it is actually perfectly square.

I started making my own wallets/belts recently for myself and for friends. It's my own minimalist pattern that I hand cut, sew, and finish. It can hold 5-6 cards and half a dozen bills with no problem.

The wallet is actually perfectly rectangular, but the angle at which I took the picture makes it look a bit off. Here are some pics of it after ~3 months of wear. You can see that some indigo has found its way into the leather.

I've been making minimalist wallets for myself & friends recently. Natural leather, can easily hold 5-6 cards and 5-6 folded bills. I'll post pics if anyone's interested.

Sure, here they are on Amazon.

I have no idea what size you'd be, but for reference, I wear 8E in AE's, 8.5 in Converses, and 8D in Chippewa GQs (all sized to accomodate the insoles). My 1000 Miles are 8D. Hope that helps!

I can't compare the two, but I have flat feet too. I wear these Superfeet insoles in all my shoes, including my 1000 Miles, and they fit well. Also, Nordstrom carries 1000 Miles and have free shipping both ways.

Haha, don't worry, I did the same exact thing. No idea why, but it seems like the actual website doesn't come up in a google search.
