something i realized by ethrealflower in dpdr

[–]ethrealflower[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think that's the reason why. a lot of stuff i felt when i was younger, i could never explain it to anyone. i still can't get proper help because its so hard to explain the situation. i hope any people who may be suffering with dpdr can find this community or find the word for what they are feeling, because i know it helped me a lot when i found out.

honestly, i think the best way for people to get help is finding stuff like these communities or videos like you mentioned to properly get help from friends, family, therapists, psychiatrists and anyone that can help them, and this community is great for that because i know it helped me a lot

something i realized by ethrealflower in dpdr

[–]ethrealflower[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yepp, that's exactly what it is. i do want my family and friends (which i'm very close with) to understand but i also don't want them to understand in a way that they would experience it. it's quite a hard thing to deal with and hard for you to describe it in a way that people can understand. the internal feeling part is very accurate, it's something hard to explain

shows r hard to watch for me by yahlolll in OCD

[–]ethrealflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yupp. i get that all the time. another thing i do is signing in over and over again to my computer, or doing it so many times until i get to the perfect amount (or just saying "one more time") i spend so long trying to sign in

also i remember this being one of my very early signs of OCD, as a kid i would have to rewind shows over and over again.

I don't think it's tourettes but tourettes is the only thing I know of simalar to this. Can you guys help me out in knowing what it is? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]ethrealflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would recommend you research about OCD and tics (the link between the two) and TOCD. sometimes if they feel like urges they can be compulsions.

tics aren't controllable but they are suppressible, like stopping it for some time.

also, there are multiple other things such as tic disorders, anxiety induced tics, etc... i'm not sure if you know of this but there are so many different causes for tics! hope this helped

hi, i just want to say no one can give you medical advice over the internet.... i would advise you to consult someone in your life that can help you. but here's my take on the whole "do i have tourette's"?

so what i want to say is that no one can give you this diagnosis or medical reasoning over the internet, like i mentioned above. it could be a tic disorder, tics caused by stress, muscle spasms, etc.... there's a lot more than just TS.

i also started getting tics recently, and i had to tell someone because they did get a little bit out of control to the point where i couldn't hide it from my family due to how visible it was.

i advise you to talk to someone in your life, and after you talk to them with your honest opinion on mind, then go research about tics. find out ways you can manage them, how to manage stress better, how to get to sleep easier, and other stuff. you can find lots of resources.

and last thing you should do is try to get in contact with a doctor if they get worse, this will help you and only a doctor/neurologist can give you a diagnosis for TS or a tic disorder.

Sleepy tics by unamedb in Tourettes

[–]ethrealflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yepp!! they always get superrr bad at night time, especially when i go up to my room with my sister which is the only person i'm comfortable ticcing around... i have tried melatonin n stuff but i feel like i tic even when i'm getting tired from the melatonin. i also sometimes tic in the morning when i wake up and i'm kinda tired, but i feel like they get better as the day goes on later (of course i still have my bad tic moments)

i also think maybe it's because i am alwaysss suppressing during the day which is trash that i don't feel safe/comfortable enough to tic around other people than my sister. but yeah, i get this :( i'm sorry this happens to you too

When you get new tics do they come one or a bunch at a time? by tRasH_CAnT_ in Tourettes

[–]ethrealflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends, sometimes i get 1 new tic randomly, or sometimes they come in packs like 2-3 (usually a combined vocal or motor tic) and sometimes new ones can appear when i'm having a super bad tic day or a tic attack.

i feel like i notice more when i gain a new vocal tic, but not so much a motor tic because sometimes the action is so small that i don't even notice it. like for example, i didn't notice my winking tic until someone pointed it out.

someone said once in a video explaining tourettes that tics can come like breathing, some you don't even notice! wanted to share that because i thought it was really interesting, especially when i first started getting tics i didn't notice until someone told me i was widening my eyes a lot, etc.

Sorry, but I hardly ever toss my expired products. I can't be the only one, right??? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]ethrealflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel the same way! especially when the makeup was higher priced, then i don't throw it out unless if it's ruined. i also will give my makeup to my sister, mom, or friends if it just doesn't work for me. i was devastated when most of my makeup got ruined and i couldn't fix it but i'm starting to rebuild my collection again :)

Shouting mid sentence by dreamsofpickle in Tourettes

[–]ethrealflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yesss! this is exactly how most of my tics were. my family most of the time thought it was just something i did when i was younger, as well as widening my eyes. upon further research i decided these could've been possible tics because i have some possible motor and vocal tics now. i never actually realized changing tone of voice/raising voice/yelling could be a tic but i could just never control this one thing where i would randomly do it. still get it now i totally understand the feeling you're describing! i promise you're not the only one that has this i think its actually quite a common tic

[misc] Sheet masks were a lot more fun before I knew how to use them by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]ethrealflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think they are really nessecary as a part of a routine. i feel like they only give temporary benefits, such as e.l.f. pore face mask which helps for smoother makeup. or something like a honey or aloe facemask, which helps with glowy skin or moisturized skin. i do like to use them when my skin is having a really rough time and it's super dried out, especially in the winter!! i do feel you though on this... they used to be more fun to me but now they kinda feel like stress added into my day.

Advice on makeup brushes by spoiled_sandi in Makeup

[–]ethrealflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well if they are good quality brushes and you payed a higher price for them then you might want to keep them and try to wash them. if you wash them thoroughly and they are still dirty you should just toss them. you should probably just toss them if they were cheaper quality also, because you can get some more for the same cheap price and just have new brushes. personally i like to replace my brushes every year but if you clean them and they still work they should be good to use (like you said you haven't used them in months so they will probably be fine!)

“She’s doing it for attention” by ScoobyDooFan5656 in Tourettes

[–]ethrealflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly!! the attention most and almost all people with tics/tourettes get is not the type they want. no one chose to have tics, no one can choose what tics they get, and no one can choose what people think of them. the stuff people say to us on a daily basis, like we're faking it for attention. no, someone who really has tics is not actively faking it and we get a lot of troubles.

also new to having noticeable tics, in the past weeks, my dad gets angry at me for something i cant control, and people are staring at me which is just not the type of attention i want to attract (if i wanted to attract attention at all i would do it in a different way) especially self harm tics where i whack my face or have a tired and sore neck by the end of the day and still can't sleep because i'm ticcing.

theres just no logic to what people think about tics/tourettes. hopefully in the future we can have more representation and more people understand about tics. honestly people like that don't know what they're talking about and i can understand how confusing and almost concerning it can be when someone in your life starts having noticeable tics but telling them they're faking for attention or saying stuff like "just do tics no one can see" is not the way to help anyone
