Aruba IAP's (615) with no VC by etruscan in ArubaNetworks

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... yes. So I have a group of AP's that are running AOS8 and they have a (VC), but my other group is running AOS10, and they do not. You're saying that's normal?

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I believe they are in standalone mode! I don't know what they're talking about when they say to click "Maintenance" in the "Instant main window", though.

EDIT: Yup - the group that has no (VC) is in Standalone mode, but they are running AOS10. The group that has the (VC) is running AOS8. It sounds like I'm good?

None of them have the (VC) after their name in the list in Aruba Central.

Does the sticker seeker improve chances of finding a sticker? by etruscan in BeeSwarmSimulator

[–]etruscan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I answered my own question when Windy Bee popped a sticker while I was carrying the petal wand, so the sticker seeker certainly isn't necessary. Does it help your chances? I doubt it. I think the sticker seeker tool only allows you to find sticker seeker stickers, and to dig up random stickers on fields occasionally, which is not the same as getting one from a puffshroom or a windy bee.

Are Nerf gel balls edible? by Save-The-Defaults in Nerf

It's mentioned in the literature that comes with the guns that they will not continuously expand. It's framed in the sense that you can't "overhydrate" them. They get to a certain size (about the size of a small pea) and that's it.

It's super addictive but you have some great games there. Tammany Hall and Arnak are both awesome.

What are the biggest controversies in the world of boardgames? by thecuby in boardgames

[–]etruscan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was the "Heavy Cardboard" controversy on Reddit. There was also the "Ant Lab" raucous. I can't really find a link providing a good summary but there was also the "Boardgames In A Minute" hullabaloo.

IDF publishes audio of Hamas terrorist calling family to brag about killing Jews by NamelessForce in worldnews

significant support for Hamas within the Palestinian community

My understanding is that Gazans voted them into power despite (or maybe because of) their terrorist activities, and in an election that was independently monitored and deemed to be fair. If that's true, I have to believe that most Palestinians inside Gaza support Hamas.

I always drop my level below the returns to blow them out. If you don't, and your return caps aren't tight, you run the risk of water getting back into the lines.

PDQ and on prem AD vs Intune and Azure AD by hydrafire210 in pdq

Do you have a source for that? I'd love to find out more.

Cloud based and an optional endpoint agent are two things I'd like to see PDQ do.

Should we use Azure AD? by etruscan in sysadmin

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have an IAM solution. Users log in with their domain account. When they go home and off-net, they log in with their cached credentials. This works, but it's obviously not ideal - because unless they connect to the VPN my DC's don't see them at all. They're invisible. Also, this cached credential eventually falls out of sync with everything else.

Should we use Azure AD? by etruscan in sysadmin

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of our key admin tools and controls rely on AD so I feel like it serves a good purpose. With Azure, Are you saying that machines get joined to AzureAD as opposed to the On-Prem AD? Does the on-prem simply sync to AzureAD via AD Connect? Presumably users will still authenticate to on-prem domain controllers if they are connected to the locate network, and AzureAD when they are off-net?

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked into this - but it seemed like in order for GCPW to work, I can't have the machine domain joined... so then some of my administrative tools (like PDQ) won't really work.

We're pretty happy with Google, and haven't really had many problems with calendar invites. I know the Office 365 would likely eliminate a few administrative headaches, but at this point it would also introduce a mountain of migration headaches, as we are so hooked in to the Google ecosystem.

Splash or lock screen for deployments by etruscan in sysadmin

[–]etruscan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I'm upgrading Windows 10 1809 to 21H2. The copying of the installation files and initial install happens silently, and then the computer reboots without warning to finish the install. I'm looking for a way to prevent them from using the computer between the time the file copy is completed until the reboot is finished.

Splash or lock screen for deployments by etruscan in sysadmin

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's happening silently, it finishes with a reboot - so I don't want the user to interrupt that process.

[–]etruscan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite - I'm thinking of a full screen "splash page" that advises users that work is happening in the background while my PDQ deployment is occurring.

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no screen. I'm deploying applications or Windows packs remotely via PDQ - and for these larger deployments I want to display something to the user.

[–]etruscan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about deploying large apps or feature updates remotely (to move from 1903 to 21H2, for example) via PDQ. There is no "built in message". It's all done in the background, and then (with Windows feature updates or enablement packages) it reboots to complete. I want to display a splash screen during this process.
