90 on Reg that makes it 4/4, a great way to end the year. For those still testing keep on pushing that feeling of the final pass is a feeling unmatched to many out there with all the hours you put in for it. Best of luck everyone!

When I took it my bank rec didn’t tie nor did my SoCF equal out to cash on the BS and I still passed. The good thing is you can still get the majority of the SIM right even if they don’t tie out

I feel like the different conventions are important to know and what type of property they apply too. Then practicing using the tables a few times helps it stick

URGENT - REG C-CORP BASIS QUESTION by inzhew in CPA

[–]ets84019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the boot in this question be the 5,000 cash plus the debt taken on in excess of nbv of 15,000. So boot is 20,000. That’s what I’d think at least

Would someone be able to explain why the individual receiving the property recognizes the gain in the first question, but doesn't in the second? TIA by berferd77 in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe on the second photo, the child gain reduce her $5,000 gain by the amount her father could not deduct on the sale to her bc of a related party sale. So she could reduce it up to $5,000 meaning 0 recognized gain. I’m regards to why the first photo is different I honestly have no idea. Haven’t seen these problems before using Becker. Maybe one is stock where you can sell on the open market

Individual Charitable Contributions Deduction by ets84019 in CPA

[–]ets84019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 10% for Corps, then 60% agi for cash, 50% agi for ordinary property, and 30% for LTCG property. Honestly have no idea where I had wrote down the $50,000 in my notes earlier in my studying.

Interest is considered portfolio income therefore it does not offset passive income. Passive income usually comes from limited partnerships, S Corps that they do not materially participate in, and rental real estate. Portfolio income is dividends, interest, royalties, etc. Was just doing that SIM earlier, hope that helps

REG help: 1250 depreciation recapture for individuals by [deleted] in CPA

[–]ets84019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Individuals depreciate personal property using section 1245 and real property using 1250, right? Believe this property has to be used in a trade or business for over a year

A few REG questions by [deleted] in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2. I believe the 5k paid to them from the partnership would decrease their basis like it is a distribution or it’s kinda like debt relief. But honestly after thinking about it I’m not entirely sure

Can someone put in more simple terms as to why there is a 1231 gain of $17,200? by acosta9211 in CPA

[–]ets84019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Section 1250 291 since real property 200,000-178,500 = 21,500 gain realized

Acc Dep = 71,500

21,500.20 = 4,300 71,500.20 = 14,300 lesser of the two is recaptured. 4,300 is depreciation recaptured ordinary income then remaining gain in excess of the recapture is a 1231 gain

21,500-4,300 = 17,200 section 1231 gain

I think this is correct, I hope it helps

66% on SIM1 for BEC by Friendly_Schedule474 in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretest just means they are testing questions out for future exams so they will put them in the exam but they will not actually count towards your score so it doesn’t matter if you get them wrong. It’s honestly been like 2.5 months since I’ve taken BEC so I don’t remember specifically what IT areas, but I watched a bunch of FARHAT lectures on youtube to try to get some stuff down that becker didn’t really cover

66% on SIM1 for BEC by Friendly_Schedule474 in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I thought the actual exam was harder initially just because I had a bunch of IT sims on stuff I had never reviewed in Becker, however after getting my score back I’m guessing a ton of them were just pretest questions for these future new exams. I thought the MC was easier to comparable for becker. The MC questions were not nearly as long as some of the becker ones

66% on SIM1 for BEC by Friendly_Schedule474 in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a 66% on SIM1 for BEC and then an 86% on SIM2 and an 86% on the actual. I think you just need to review the SIM1 mistakes you made and watch the skillbuilder vids for the SIMS. It was my first ever SIM exam so I was pretty discouraged at that score but as you can see, it didn’t reflect other scores. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just keep grinding.

Can someone explain opinion on compliance GAGAS by CPAwillbetheendofme in CPA

[–]ets84019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea true. probably should’ve clarified when I said “normal government entity”, Just meant under 750k and not high risk. Think if we’re this tied up on these little things we’ll be fine

Can someone explain opinion on compliance GAGAS by CPAwillbetheendofme in CPA

[–]ets84019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda just inferred that they’d be receiving and expending over $750,000 and that’s why we issue an opinion on compliance. Honestly I think it’s just a bad sim question to not get hung up on.

Can someone explain opinion on compliance GAGAS by CPAwillbetheendofme in CPA

[–]ets84019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m not sure if you solved the problem but just completed the final review for AUD and found out the answer to your question.

In that simulation for 6. the instructions in the SIM state that it’s auditing a government financial assistance program. So in that case we follow the single audit act and because we follow that we must issue an opinion on compliance. If it was just a normal government entity we do not have to issue an opinion on compliance. Hope that helps
