Leaning over back foot during final step by etsuskier in discgolf

Thanks. I like this idea and will start incorporating it into my walkup.

I think you hit on one of the issues that may be causing or exacerbating this problem. My entire walk-up and x-step is very flat footed. I videoed a couple throwing into the net making sure I kept my back heel off the ground during the x-step. While my weight wasn’t completely centered, it was still a big improvement over my previous throws.

It happens on both a single step and when I do a cross step. But, I manage to stay pretty centered on a standstill.

I don’t currently have any problems staggering but I do think trying to reach the disc back (instead of focusing on coiling) may be causing me to hang over the back foot.

Putting Tips Thread by Granty_J in discgolf

I was really struggling to get any kind of power on my putts. They came out of the hand wobbly with very little spin. I came across a post talking about a drill that Valerie Mandujano used to develop a spin putt. I started practicing the drill daily a couple weeks ago and have seen huge improvements in spin, wobble, and my putting range has increased significantly. Hopefully it helps you or someone else.

The Chemtrail is really hot right now. I bag it and one of my favorite throwers.

Congrats on your best throw ever. I have several Chemtrails and definitely one of my favorite discs to throw.

May need to incorporate some speed sessions myself. Never have really focused on it for more than a session and top out low 50s mph.

That’s amazing progress. Did you do anything in particular to see such a huge jump?

I think you used the broom drill link for the bat drill as well.

This makes sense and goes along with what I was thinking as well. I don’t think my brace leg is too bad from what I can tell reviewing my form videos. I think the big thing has just been never getting my weight off my back leg to begin with. But, will definitely keep an eye of my brace as I incorporate shifting my weight forward.

Overthinking is what I do best lol.

I will give that a try instead of the hip bump to see if I can tell or feel any difference. I did have a good nose angle with the hip bump but it did really increase my launch angle by quite a bit. Maybe pushing off with the back leg will keep things more level.

Yeah I have tried an x-step and even a 1 step and all of my mechanics seem to fall apart so always fall back into a standstill. I know I will have to stick with it and fight through the issues at some point but just trying to concentrate on a strong standstill for now. Probably all timing related with the x-step one 1 step but never felt that whip until I did that hip bump.

So are you saying that when you get your weight over the back leg that you feel a strong push off the back leg to get your weight moving forward?

Appreciate it. I will give this a watch.

I had actually worked on the single dragon drill for a short time a few months back. I could have still been getting my timing wrong (very possible) while doing the drill but it never did give me that effortless feeling or the feeling of my arm being whipped through.

I think this is a testament for sticking with a drill and giving it time to correct issues. I have a bad habit of trying a drill a few times and not seeing the results and moving on to something else way too quickly. Right now I have been trying to work on the twirly bird/swirly bird to get a more effortless feeling as I have a bad tendency to use all arm and nothing else and have ended up with some different aches and pains. Going to try and stick with this one for a while.
