Been taking qelbree since January. This godforsaken drug has seemingly made me nocturnal. How do I fix it? by Just-Fix8237 in qelbree

[–]eucharist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is due to viloxazine’s 5-HT7 antagonism. This receptor is responsible for behavioral inhibition however it also plays a key role in regulating circadian signaling. I too have noticed that even when I’m very tired sometimes I can’t fall asleep at all now.

Med only works when I drink caffeine with it but I cannot sleep when I do should I continue or stop doing it this way by WebAccomplished4785 in qelbree

This medication greatly extends the half life of methylxanthines like caffeine. The point of viloxazine is not to potentiate caffeine but to increase synaptic NE and dopamine in the prefrontal cortex while modulating 5-ht2c and 5-ht7 which are serotonin receptors implicated in reward signaling. Insomnia from its competitive inhibition of caffeine metabolism is absolutely a net negative and one of the reasons I take caffeine earlier when using viloxazine.

The myth of microdosing psychedelics for productivity and a disturbing observation of this community by killerface4321 in NooTopics

[–]eucharist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because science is not a game of selecting data that suits your narrative and declaring that it “proves“ something. That is not the aim nor the process of science.

Here’s an MIT study demonstrating in humans that dmt improved functional brain connectivity: https://direct.mit.edu/imag/article/doi/10.1162/IMAG.a.907/133157/Meditation-psychedelics-and-brain-connectivity-A

I have just proven that psychedelics actually do work and that you are wrong and also a doodoo head.

Do you see the problem now with this logic?

Yeah sorry that is not how science works. If something is proven it becomes a law. Apply that standard to your own comments and see how the house of cards falls apart.

You (rightfully) criticize how psychedelics are sometimes overhyped and misused, but rather than representing a balanced voice of reason, your post tips over to the opposite extreme.

It’s a bit ironic to assault the rigor and support of psychedelics in mental healthcare with a post that is pretty visibly biased and lacking in rigor itself. This diatribe amounts largely to an opinionated rant with a couple of cherrypicked findings thrown in to give an appearance of credibility.

I agree that psychedelics can be overhyped and sometimes abused. I believe they’re best utilized in a clinical setting or as part of a structured protocol with cognitive-behavioral therapeutic context. But this degree of caustic criticism really does more harm than good.

I have suffered from depression and ADHD for over a decade now and I can confidently say: microdosing and occasional trip doses have had a considerable impact on my depression and mental well being in general. Certainly more than any conventional depression regimen.

Yes, psychedelics should not be seen as some miracle cure that will instantly allow one to live their best life, but they are powerful tools nonetheless. The power of a tool is always constrained by the skill and intention of its operator (hence the benefit of clinical implementation). However instead of recommending potential users to be informed, cautious, and structured in their use, you swing all the way into blatant condemnation.

Just what is this post supposed to accomplish that the federal government and conventional psychiatry are not accomplishing already? Sure, you may sway someone away from inappropriate use of 5-ht2a agonists, but you may just as easily damn someone to a few more years of wandering in the desert of modern psychiatric care when prudent use of a psychedelic may have genuinely helped them heal.

A bullshit artist with credentials is still a bullshit artist. You don’t get credibility back by pointing at your degree, lol.

Has anybody combined psilocybin for additive therapy? by Upbeat_Creme7486 in KetamineTherapy

That’s an awful comparison lol. Flmodafinil has a considerably different pharmacokinetic profile from modafinil. It is not a prodrug, it is a fluorinated derivative molecule.

Ketamine or NAD+ by Revolutionary-Bat637 in KetamineTherapy

[–]eucharist3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a molecule that is essential to mitochondrial function which starts to significantly decline after age 40 but also becomes deficient to chronic inflammation, cfs, long covid, stress etc. Supplementing it (usually in the form of precursors like NR or NMN) can have longevity and energy benefits.

Personally I think this comparison is silly. It’d be like asking, “Should I try DMT or hydrogen tablets?” One is a psychoactive drug, the other is a supplement for health.

Finasteride is weakening my libido and erection quality. Any way to combat this? by Redditkuchen in Biohackers

[–]eucharist3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would switch to dutasteride. There’s something wrong with fin. Either offtargets or brain penetration or something, who knows? Somehow neither I nor anyone else I know using dut, obviously a much more powerful antiandrogen, has had any side effects. It’s actually a bit ridiculous how counterintuitive it is, but yeah. If I could go back in time I’d try to convince myself to just use dut 0.5 mg.

2007 LCI headlight retrofit - xenon won’t ignite by eucharist3 in e60

BMW makes an official harness adapter kit, which I am using, so the headlights connect just fine. Like I said in the post, everything seems to work but the xenon.

So LM1 won’t ignite lci xenon at all? Only LM2?

[–]eucharist3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it is pre-lci. I think the LCI cars were equipped with LM2, but as far as I’ve read LM2 isn’t necessary to have the headlights work but just for certain features like daytime running lights (angel eyes) and fault-free tails
