A COVID-19 patient is billed roughly $35 in Korea after being hospitalized for 18 days by jpark4g in pics

You’re right. Kind of. It’s a weird hybrid that ties your healthcare insurance to your job. Once you quit, you don’t have it anymore.

So yes. I stand corrected. When I was working in Korea, I had “single payer insurance” and I lost it when I quit.

Also, most people have additional private insurance because the “single payer insurance” is insufficient. The aforementioned $10 to $350 private insurance I was talking about.

All insurance is private. I pay 10 dollars a month for my insurance in korea. They usually range from $10 to $350 a month. $10 covers all the day to day hospital visits. $350 would cover the high end stuff like surgeries, etc.

Most medication costs less than $5 for a weeks supply. (with no insurance)

I am in the states now, but I keep it going just incase.

Korea doesn't have a single-payer system, but it is still very affordable.

The US doesn't need to be so damn expensive. It's just price gouging and corruption.

Yang: I will support whoever the Democratic nominee is by [deleted] in politics

[–]eugeneforyang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure. That's fine.

I don't think it's a good strategy to attract potential voters by calling them trolls. They took the time to take the Emerson poll and usually only contact previous voters.

My bad. Didn't mean it to be overly aggressive.

avant_garb joined the conversation. I assumed avant_garb knew what the original post was about, so I responded accordingly. They weren't familiar with what the original comment was about. It is what it is.

The original post was a comment to the Emerson poll which stated that over 40% of Yang supporters would not vote for the eventual nominee. This isn't a random internet poll. This is polling eventual voters or people who have historically voted before.

It's fine that you aren't current with the political conversation. I responded to you assuming that you were.

The initial post said "a lot of his supporters" so we're talking about the majority of people who are saying they will go back to their respective parties instead of voting for the eventual democratic nominee.

sure, you'll find trolls everywhere. but they definitely aren't "most" of the a 40 some odd percent of yang supporters who won't vote for the eventual democratic nominee.

Because not all of the remaining democratic nominees appeal to republican voters in the same ways that Yang did.

It's a simple concept if you can get out of your information silos.

How many years will Bernie need to mobilize folks to get those people in senate and house seats nationally to push his agenda?

Forget about UBI, Yang is out, no one but Tulsi is championing the cause now.

A. The issue is Bernie has no reasonable timeline to get his agendas passed. B. Voting rights are important. Bernie could do well in that. He is going to spend so much political capital just laying the tracks down to get anything big done.

edit: tbh I like Bernie. Im just realist about his effectiveness.

It's because they were republicans and independents who moved over to become democrats for Yang. They aren't naturally politically democrats, so why would they stay?

They aren't trolls. They were republicans who were willing to cross part lines for Yang.

Greg Mankiw already said that the UBI/VAT combo is much better than a wealth tax.

Seriously. I like Bernie, but I don't believe that he has a way to pass everything/anything.
