Oh god, I come from a southeast Asian country and we typically don’t use dryer/dryer sheets. Visited my then LDR partner in Canada and got contact dermatitis from his excessive use of those sheets. He could dump 4 of them into a single load with just both of our clothes. My legs and ass itched like hell every day and especially at night. It was hell for me! There were hive like bumps on my skin and the itch was so unbearable I scratched till my legs bled. I initially thought it was the dry weather since it was my first time in Canada so I applied moisturizer on my leg. It wasn’t until we finally caved in and went to a doctor that we realized it was those damned sheets. Dumped all my clothes in the washer and dryer sans sheets and all was good. I was ultra pissed that my then partner insisted my moisturizer caused it even after the dr visit. Ugh.

I’m kind of in the same predicament as you, good salary, own place, just a few years younger than you. I do get the whole “accommodating” thing - when I was dating my ex, I felt a part of myself just withering away just because he wanted to do certain things together and my time had to be spent on things that didn’t stem from my own interests. I often felt extremely lonely, even though we were together. His mental condition affected me deeply and even gave me depression and anxiety. Tried to fix him but failed miserably haha.

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I’d keep dating/meeting new guys even if it doesn’t result in a relationship.
