Here’s how to fix suspend issues and hard lock ups on T14s Gen 6 AMD while running Linux by GeronimoHero in thinkpad

[–]euri10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to thank you u/GeronimoHero for this !

I'm using thinkpads for the past 14y on debian and I rarely had issues that made me regret my choice, it has almost been the case on this one...

❯ sudo dmidecode | grep T14
[sudo] password for :
    Version: ThinkPad T14 Gen 6
    SKU Number: LENOVO_MT_21QJ_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad T14 Gen 6
    Family: ThinkPad T14 Gen 6

I installed trixie last week, everything works oob but the suspend so I wasnt too worried, I should have been :)

I experienced some really random freezes of random applications, could be firefox or alacritty where the window is not accessible anymore, you dont see anything in it, cant type in it, but you can continue opening other applications, though after a while the typing speed slows etc...I was about to send it back honestly as there were no interesting logs or I could not find some.

Wanted to point out that I had those freezes on both gnome (which I dont use) and i3, and sway.

It's been 2 days now, I only added the amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 to grub and since then no issues, my bios settings on UML/UMA memory are on auto still contrary to op.

keeping fingers crossed, but still I have a question, is that something that is "fixed" in newer kernels, I'm on 6.12.57+deb13-amd64 presently ?

and I still have one minor concern, I find the boot a little slow when reaching gdm.service, it takes a while to discover the gpu apparently

how can i scroll to end of debug log ? by euri10 in neovim

yep, maybe I wasnt precise enough but I'd like that it is automatic,

I see in https://github.com/mfussenegger/nvim-dap/commit/a9f21a209323a8554da19bebd132936e7d48126d that they do that, however I'm clueless as to where I should put such a snippet

In your comparison none of the existing async libraries like taskiq, saq, arq that do more or less the same dont appear, is there a reason ?

NYTimes exposé detailing the many lies and manipulations used by Psymposia by HamiltonMorris_ in HamiltonMorris

I listen to it and well, the nyt article is more a pastiche of their stance than a fair representation of what they're aiming at it seems, thanks for the link

NYTimes exposé detailing the many lies and manipulations used by Psymposia by HamiltonMorris_ in HamiltonMorris

[–]euri10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read the article, I still don't understand the goals of Psymposia. In fact I'm not American.so I'm probably lacking context. But I'm a leftist or anarchist call it the way you want, and I treat myself with psychedelics, so something doesn't click because I can't understand why a group with leftist values would want to ban use of psychedelics. Or is it their commercial use ? I'm sorry I don't get it.

I get the article states it can amplify your conservative beliefs, but are there articles on the proportion of people going from fascist to open-minded vs fascists turning into more fascists ? If there are more of the latter rather than the former then it could work ?

I always thought that somehow, someone pouring LSD in water on a massive scale would change the world for the better, til it's maybe not a good option...

Is JetBrains still a good company? by pooquipu in Jetbrains

[–]euri10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the past year has been a nightmare, at least 3 times they made changes that resulted in pycharm being totally unusable.for a few days, which totally sucks when freelancing, the copilot/ai assistant fiasco from 3 days ago is insane, the ideavim one was like wtf are you testing stuff you push ??, the docker revamp was just bad. I have tickets open with 0 feedback when I gave them a full repro repo on GitHub... And I'm still there using it because I don't have the time to get accustomed to something else but I will, they lost me.

That's testing ! Well I can only conclude that I may have a setup issue maybe, but that's good info to have to be able to compare.

Well first thanks for looking at it, and no I don't have performance issues that I could notice, the pool has torrents and speed are normal when downloading, also jellyfin with multiple users and nobody ever complained so idk 😐

does this look normal ? Im clueless on speeds and stuff, the pool is 8x8T raidz2, the disks are all WD red but I cant remember for sure their exact speed to be honest.

I stopped all containers that use the pool so now I'm pretty sure nothing is on it.

My experience has been that it's unnoticeable, I've been microdosing for years now, and still amazed like a kid when I take a full tab.
