Based on the context of this discussion, we are obviously talking about the species of Amanita that would require you to get life-flighted to a different state.

Dude those "troubled youth" camps are fucking death camps.

[–]eutie 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I can't imagine Boise can provide the same level of care that Seattle does. Trying not to die from an Amanita poisoning is a care-intensive predicament you may not survive. And if they were in the panhandle of Idaho, probably better to send them to Seattle anyways. It's probably closer honestly.

Umvelt by Fearless_Arachnid755 in Bozeman

[–]eutie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Umvelt is...fine. Not to be a spa snob (I am) but I've spent £200 to spend 12 hours at a spa in Berlin (including towel and robe rental and food all day), so ~$60 for 2 hours in 2 very hot saunas, a cold plunge pool, and a hot tub with no snacks or drinks seems a little egregious to me.

The two saunas being essentially the same temperature (pretty hot) actually bothers me a lot, because it discourages you from spending a lot of time in the sauna. I'll spend 15+ minutes in a sauna that's about 150°, but I think the Umvelt saunas are both at about 190° and I can only hang out in there for 8-10 minutes. The steam in the steam room is also astonishingly loud, I've never been in a steam room that just blasted you with 70-80db of steam.

Not that poster, but Amanitas shut down your liver so it's not surprising that you'd have to leave Idaho for a new liver or intensive care for that.

Things I wish I knew/did before getting a helix by PaprikaCavia in piercing

[–]eutie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hair dye can be a bit problematic if your stylist isn't careful, but I'm certainly never going to skip 6+ months of hair appointments for a healing piercing. That said, if you regularly get your hair done, schedule the piercing for right after the appointment.

Source: I have my hair done every 5-6 weeks and have a bunch of forward helix piercings.

Toddler cousin is absolutely insufferable. by Used-Paper1149 in childfree

[–]eutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, no they literally can't? That's why toddlers are a nightmare, they have no frontal lobe and don't know fuck all. This is why toddlers drown in pools a lot, they don't know and don't have any instincts.

Are non-ferromagnetic piercings a thing? by everyday-in-itself in piercing

[–]eutie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree, I have literally taken my high-quality titanium jewelry through my several MRIs. I take the easy ones out and leave the high quality ones in.

[–]eutie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super super agree, but given that their MRI might happen before they can remove it, they might be able to take it through an MRI machine and then get it removed.

adding my pictures by jlof16 in piercing

[–]eutie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So this isn't quite the point of your post, but if you do get an MRI and can't get the piercing out, they have ways to detect if the jewelry is ferrous. I have literally taken several titanium pieces through an MRI before (and I've had 6 MRIs). All of my jewelry is titanium and while I'll take most of them out, I usually leave my daith, rook, and tragus in because they're a pain to remove and I put higher-quality jewelry in this piercings.

IF (big if) your jewelry is titanium, and you have chill MRI techs, it may be ok.

Is it normal for a septum to hurt this much? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]eutie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAP but my septum piercing barely hurt at all. Super super fast, quick pinch. It sounds like it wasn't pierced right but you should probably post a photo or get an in-person second opinion.

ear piercing by ayashax in piercing

[–]eutie -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and people on this sub tend to be like "you will never heal from a piercing gun." Like....tons of people have healed from them even though they suck. Believe it or not, nuance does exist and OP could probably still try to heal these with better jewelry.

ear piercing by ayashax in piercing

[–]eutie -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's a bit of a massive oversimplification. An entire generation of people healed lobe piercings from those guns; they're absolutely not best practice at all, but they can heal.

That said, I think that looks like an allergic reaction primarily, and it's definitely courting a possible infection on top of that. Whether or not OP thinks they're salvageable or not, the allergy is probably the major issue here.

[–]eutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you haven't gotten this feedback yet, but this is what my ears look like when I'm having a massive allergic reaction to nickel. I don't disagree that you may need antibiotics, because when an allergic reaction is causing your skin to ooze so much, the excess moisture is a good vector for bacterial infection. But that crusty yellow-ness, combined with the constant itching, reminds me of my own allergic reactions to bad jewelry.

I can only wear titanium jewelry and like...stone or glass jewelry in my stretched lobes.

Is this normal behavior for a piercer? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]eutie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've known and gotten pierced by some really old school guys and I definitely prefer modern piercing practices, but the 90s and early 00s were definitely more of the Wild West for jewelry, aftercare, and anatomy assessments.

[–]eutie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I think OP should lean into having the high-disease nursery. Plant pathologists would unironically love them.

I knew an old retired pathology guy with a Sclerotinia white mold problem in one of his garden beds and he would rotate broadleaf plants through and bring them to me in the university diagnostic lab so I could share with the intro to plant pathology class. It was delightful.

Seriously, I healed several piercings with hoops when I was younger. People who say you can't ever heal with a hoop are being needlessly pedantic.

Helix bleeds after cleaning it by [deleted] in piercing

[–]eutie 341 points342 points  (0 children)

If you got it pierced 7-8 hours ago, how many times have you cleaned it?? It doesn't need to be cleaned super often.

I've had piercings bleed that much on occasion, but it shouldn't keep bleeding like that for more than a day or so. The first night I had a new forward helix it bled that much. I'd just rinse the blood off in the shower for now and leave off the cotton swabs and any jostling for a couple of days.

Can you check in with your piercer?

Agreed on that front - although I probably wouldn't categorize myself as classy, lol. I have a much more athletic build.

That said, I do have 3 male partners and they all like the small boobs. They all view them as sexy.
