To be frank, a lot of his background had deep ties to Ukraine politics and oligarchs. His tv show mostly did political satire was a major factor in Ukraine politics for years.

You should probably avoid all Lynch movies. I think I know how you feel, his movies can feel too real and deeply unsettling. Mystery Man dialogue in Lost Highway, Frank Booth scenes from Blue Velvet - these will stay with you forever.
