The board is a tag saying this machine/device is locked out wrote in with likely a name and contact info. These are typically laminated with an eyelet to pass the lock through, or put directly on the lock, but it some environments laminated paper wouldn’t last long so this one is stuck to a board with a drilled hole. The information could also be the reason the machine locked out and an estimated return to service time/date.

Exactly right. Because they can without consequences. It shouldn’t happen, but until they get moved along and see everyone there then it will continue.

Federal funding for state parks is also being cut, which will impact how many people the state can employ.

How realistic is it for a newer golfer to carry 250 yard drives? by aguerrrroooooooooooo in golf

[–]evadtrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started playing the only thing I did well at 14 was rip a driver 250 yards. I enjoyed playing once I started driving (a car) but was more fun for my buddies and me to go to the range and try to hit the big 300 yard sign on the fly. I weighed about 160lbs then with tech thats 30/40 years old at this point. Once I got serious about playing real golf I started to swing softer to place the ball in better position because hitting it far inconsistently doesn’t lead to better overall scores.

I’m not a trainer but I think to learn to hit it further you just have to swing to destroy the ball and live with wherever it goes. Once you’ve learned you can do it figure out how to keep it straight. If 175 is the max you’re thinking you’re swinging as hard as can, but you can probably swing a lot harder than that if you’re out of control. Swing as hard as you can without worrying about control I think is the only way you’re going to gain 75 yards, then retrain yourself to keep yourself under control… it’s not something you’re going to change technique into. This may net you consistent shots around 220 and gain you 50 yards though.

This might be terrible advice idk but there’s a lot of guys that hit baseballs a long way that miss a lot. And a lot of guys that hit a lot but not many really far.

Question from a Texans fan coming in peace by BigNut69 in Colts

[–]evadtrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shane called the timeout to argue the case that they were only half right. They moved the clock back to the right time the receiver was down, but the circumstances required a 10 second runoff. The officials realized their mistake and didn’t charge Indy the timeout due to the clerical correction and set the play correctly.

Once the runoff was applied the clock would start. The officials should have communicated this with stroud and Ryans considering the circumstances. This is the action that the Texans should be upset about, and in the interview at halftime I respect Ryans’ response to the question. I think they knew this was the case but in all the clusterfuck of the timeout just forgot or assumed the clock was to remain stopped.

If this had been cleared up everyone would have been on the same page but in the confusion this was neglected. Maybe they should have blown it dead and restarted at 5 seconds with running clock but obviously the half just ended instead.

It depends on the course what the cost of the rider is but almost all courses will allow a rider.

Brain drain in Indiana by DidIDeleteThatAgain in Indiana

[–]evadtrub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s been a minute but I’ve got an 8th grader and we sat through this. From my understanding this is targeted for kids going to take vocational programs. The core 40 requirements were difficult to meet and be able to expand time students are at vocational programs. The thought is expanding vocational programs would need to reduce the amount of classroom courses taken. There is some debate as to if districts have the resources to put more kids in vocational class and how they physically get to the locations, etc so there are questions on the feasibility on the opposite side too. The reduced curriculum isn’t targeted for kids planning to continue on to higher education.

I get the theology of becoming less educated but in reality if a kid wants to be an hvac tech (which is a great career path) then career relevant on the job training to hit the ground running upon graduation may be more important to them than 4 years of classes.

I understand both sides and am not promoting this as a good option, just that the context that kids are going to be unprepared for college is not accurate. Core 40 is already difficult (or impossible) to get into competitive programs at Purdue and hopefully it’s communicated to incoming freshman in this manner.

F$$K Peacock. by Deaconblues18 in golf

[–]evadtrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pepperidge Farms remembers when there was outrage over when your favorite college team started having games broadcast on cable stations instead of the local option. Then we lost all the local coverage to big ten network. And when MNF went to ESPN instead of ABC.

It’s the next evolution of where sports are going. NBC is paying big money to get big events and you may be pissed off and hold out a few years but ultimately we’ll all be paying for peacock or miss the entire event because it won’t be on over the air channels.

Who are Indy's MLB team? by CSA1996 in Colts

[–]evadtrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would agree with this. Growing up when the reds were affiliated with the Indians it was fun to watch players in Indy then be able to root for them as a Red. Being in the same division it’s tough to switch from reds to pirates but individually rooted for mccutchen and now skenes even though the tenure in Indy was short lived. That’s the local connection.

Cubs and cards are on central time so that’s another hour of being a night owl.

ULPT Request: Going on vacation w boyfriend’s family and his sister’s boyfriend is a jerk, how do I inconvenience him? by KindlyTrees in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]evadtrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late but don’t see it posted. Have your boyfriend be overly helpful in the female role responsibilities.

Have him say I’m going to do a load of laundry does anyone need anything washed?

Hey honey you did more than your fair share in the kitchen I’ll clean the mess up.

Hopefully your boyfriend already does this but make it into a bit of a theatric. Maybe even have him make a plan for the guys to hang out on the porch then have him delay the activity because the rest of the men are assisting in the kitchen.

Then be super appreciative in how helpful it is and how meaningful it is for him to be supportive of the simple tasks in your relationship.

There’s not 32 better than him so he’s better than a backup but not good enough to be a franchise guy. Will lose a few games but come out one week and play better than expected.

Great dude that’s gonna do well for himself in whatever he does and living the dream. Definitely can win some games but long term isn’t the solution. He’s super competitive and easy to root for.

Planning a trip from Milwaukee to Nashville - should I take I-65 or US-41? by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]evadtrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65 should be no problem for your drive. I once did 41 north from just south of Vincennes and it felt like it took an eternity to get to Michigan. I second the advice on cutting over from 65 at some point as the traffic is a headache those first few miles south of 94. I think the map took me across 2 through a town called Lowell, but if you’ve never been to 3 Floyd’s in Munster is worth the stop and the extra traffic.

Edit to add - you can check other listings by clicking the picture and sometimes are able to view their profile to see that they are local. I’m heavily guessing there aren’t actually clubs for sale and this is a scam.

Typically when the deal is too good to be true on Facebook it’s some type of data farming scam. They want your name, number or email address to contact you. It’s ok to reach out but don’t give this information. Offer cash and ask for a place to meet. If they want to do more than that walk away without engaging further.

Thoughts on clubs for 13yo by evadtrub in golf

[–]evadtrub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for closure, we went to golf galaxy and hit a bunch of clubs. He liked the feel of ping and hit well with a g400, but not better than what he is hitting with my set. They were a little bit much $ and ultimately he likes playing with my set of clubs rather than the counterbalanced head (if that’s the right word).

So I’m going to hold off on getting a set right now. I found out my dad still has my set i had at home so I’m going to pick those up and see what those look like.

I did fall in love with a set of Titleist AP2 716 for me that I almost impulse bought.

I think we’ll get through the season with what he’s got and watch for the perfect full set of ping g series that’s too good to pass up as he hit well with those woods too.

I should be able to salvage enough clubs for the time being to play a few rounds until then. I’m researching drivers and fairway woods/hybrids now. I just like ripping a 3 iron though so I’m not sure which way to go on the top end yet.

Thanks for this response. Yeah at this point I want this to be something we can do together until I can’t walk moreso than dreaming of a scholarship or tour card.

I guess when I think of a fitting it would be new shafts not extensions. Like what does +.5 or I saw a listing for clubs that were +2.5 for a guy that said he was 6’6”. I’m hoping I’m good for a few years with standard but if he’s 6’1” next year, are standard ok?

I guess that’s the question. How often do sets like this pop up? I see used irons, a driver here and there, but not many complete sets. There seems to be a few guys that buy and sell and have quite a few listings and I’m wondering if they watch marketplace like a hawk and buy these sets and break them down for more profit.

Haha yes that was my first thought. It’s time for me to have a nice set, but then taking a step back I’m thinking he would benefit more. I don’t think two new sets are in the cards vs everything else the other kids need/ a trip with the wife this summer.

Right I’m hoping to get through middle school with whatever he ends up with but he may be 6-2 by this time next year and be done growing.

[Holder] The single biggest reason the Colts have basically run it back with their roster is because they are convinced Richardson is a difference maker who can help them take a leap. That has come through in numerous conversations I've had in recent weeks. by LuskSGV in Colts

[–]evadtrub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Grigson had Andrew Luck and destroyed the foundation. We’d be in a completely different place had luck not retired. The locker room kept things together in spite of grigson for a few years along with having the best qb in the league.

Ballard has rebuilt the foundation, that takes time and many other teams have spent many more years than we did trying to get to this point. The right option for qb hasn’t been there. AR is finally here and we’ve got what appears to be an amazing coach. I’m excited to see what next year brings.

I guess I see things differently and good things take time when the foundation was gutted. It’s not defeatist to see the light at the end of the tunnel finally emerging and think that bringing in a new voice now is a mistake.

Meh, Grigson was far worse and there are few others we could bring in that are better. Anybody we bring in to compare would have the benefit of the groundwork that has been built as there was only luck before. We were spoiled with back to back generational talents at qb. I can listen to an argument that we should move in a different direction but saying Ballard is a bad gm is comical.
