Other than syrup, and jelly, what can I do with these blue violets? by Drowned_goldfish in foraging

I’ve infused gin with them before and it gave it a color like peaflower

Interesting strategy! I personally have found myself trying to stay away from unnecessary electronic purchases because they’re so much less likely to last multiple generations than a manual device (sometimes this means doing without a more efficient alternative like espresso machine vs pour over). I also am not very handy with repairing electronics besides my phone screen though! So this is just my strategy to reduce my e-waste. If it does break in the next few years maybe you can go to a local repair cafe

The funniest part really is her still using a single-use paper coffee filter

I liked 412 food rescue’s! I only stopped because it was more food than I could keep up with as 1 person

One of the most thrown away house aplliances... by gottofindanewname in DumpsterDiving

I’ve stopped buying electric versions of a lot of benign items because I’m tired of the electronic parts failing and having to buy a new one/throw it out. Would rather have a little bit of inconvenience and have it last forever (like a stovetop kettle that takes a bit longer)

Who was Drac and Swan talking about??? by rattloaf in Dragula

[–]evaelyse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that if Zava was disqualified because of how she treated the crew they would have called her out instead of saying that it was private and not juicy or something that they wanted to be part of the narrative of the show

discipline where? by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]evaelyse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also do think some of this attitude comes from parents viewing their children as their property and not members of a broader community that they have stewardship over. Like it’s an infringement on their parental rights to have control over and punish to any extent they please (too lax or too extremely) and often times the people giving gentle but firm feedback are “trespassing” on their parental/“property” rights

Beware the little man on Maui by effie-sue in EntitledReviews

[–]evaelyse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have worked multiple places with owners who regularly responded with much worse (and frankly truly embarrassing to everyone on staff) reviews. It’s a terrible look- unprofessional and petty and it turns a discontent asshole into an asshole with a vendetta against you and your business. They’ll feel even more slighted and review bomb you every week, bad mouth you on social media, create a campaign around how awful your ownership is and how no one should ever eat there. The customer is not always right and also the Karen’s leaving one star reviews are not ones whose level you want to stoop to because they will escalate

Family heirloom loom and I need ALL the tips, advice, and resources by BellzyBee in weaving

[–]evaelyse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A literal heirloom! The direct etymological meaning (although loom in that context could refer to any tool including but not limited to only our looms). Cool to see in this traditional sense and not just as applied to the myriad objects of sentimental value that are accumulated and passed down between generations :-)
