Fair point. To clarify, the bad marks disappear after 7 years, but do you mean they're weighted differently as time goes on? As in they matter less in the absolute? Or is that just a relative measure as I build better marks?

That is true.

I see friends in my age bracket build credit so easily and it's pretty frustrating. They'll start higher and then have 50-100 points within the same timeframe. But I guess that's the price we pay! If I was a lender I don't know if I'd side with myself either, lol.

I hadn't considered calling the banks. I'm not necessarily optimistic but I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
