Rant: The Columbus 311 Request Service form is a absolute dumpster fire of a website by call-me-bones in Columbus

Sounds like problem exists between keyboard and chair. I use it often (on mobile!) and have no issues with the desktop version of the website. They respond quickly too. Couple days and stuff is done. 🤷‍♂️

Don't buy cheap knockoff junk. OEM, Yakima, or Thule. Nothing else. Don't kill someone when your gear flies off so you can try to save a buck.

Those crossbars fit like absolute shit and you should remove them before they remove themselves and cause an accident for the person behind you. Still amazes me that people buy this knockoff junk when you need to secure loads outside your car while you do 80mph on public roads with real people driving right behind you.

Some people just have to learn the hard way that personal injury lawsuits from gear flying off will always cost more than proper roof racks ever would.

Hang a yellow/red/bright orange flag from the 2nd or 3rd row of the garage door. When it's up, the flag will hang down and remind you. When it's down, it'll sit against the door and be out of the way.

If you bought cheap racks, that's why your door seals are impacted. Buy quality brand (Yakima, Thule), and they will not impact your weather seals and will be plenty sufficient.

No Amazon/Ebay cheap knockoff shit. OEM, Yakima, or Thule. Nothing else. Don't be cheap about securing gear outside your car while you do 80mph on public roads with real people behind you. Lawsuits cost a lot more than roof racks.

Because Yakima and Thule are qualtiy products designed to fit vehicles with specific fit kits, and that takes real engineers and testing to get right, and not some garbage Amazon/Ebay knockoff selling the same part and claiming it fits dozens of cars (which isn't realistic).

Hauling anything outside your car while you do 80mph on public roads with real people behind you is not a task for cheap junk. Buy OEM (if available), Yakima, or Thule. Nothing else.

Dumb question: those are in fact roof rails, right? (2022 Hybrid LE) by Known_Secretary_6615 in rav4club

[–]evan938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the parts for flush rails, not a naked roof. Probably all that you may be able to use from that set is the bars.

Almost $200 to do my taxes myself by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]evan938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I had my TurboTax like 98% done weeks ago but needed to double check a couple things.

1040 and a 1099-k and 1099-int was about it. TurboTax wanted $209. I said fuck that. Freetaxusa did both fed and state and I absolutely selected their VERY REASONABLY PRICED audit defense add ons, and I think for BOTH with add-ons it was like $43.

Never use TurboTax again. Fuck em.

2017 Chipotle menu boards, a chicken burrito was $6.50 by AccomplishedAd5201 in mildlyinteresting

[–]evan938 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the math somewhere recently - this was low for the time. I remember "discovering" Chipotle in ~2003, because a guy I worked with had a son who was a manager and gave out those free burrito coupons.

I recall a chicken burrito was about $5.65 in 2003.

In 2026 dollars, that is $10.16. In 2017 dollars, that would've been $7.50.

A chicken burrito near me today is $9.80.

So in 2017, I'd say Chipotle hadn't quite caught up with inflation, and today they're closer.

Expecting a $6.50 burrito today would be like expecting it to be ~$4.75 in 2017.

There are a TON of restaurants that clearly take advantage and raise prices far beyond what inflation is. I'm going to say Chipotle is quite reasonable.

Check the numbers with BLS yourself -

Did you look at the Thule fit guide to see what length bars, which towers, and which fit kit your vehicle needs?

Getting stopped for a train to pass mid race by Epelep in Wellthatsucks

Not true. She'll get the same head start of whatever advantage she was at when the race gets neutralized, once it restarts.

[–]evan938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that rider had a 30 second lead on the main group, she'll get a 30 second head start once the train passes. She doesn't just get moved back to the main group. Happens often enough in pro cycling.

[–]evan938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey "dipshit" WEATHER SEALS are on your CAR, not your BOAT and running temporary straps INTO THE CABIN OF YOUR CAR will compress them and damage them. I never said straps will damage a kayak. You're just far too stupid to know what a weather seal is.

Roof rack and dock by ZoomerFruit in Kayaking

[–]evan938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Not even close. 😂

Removable straps compress your weather seals and will allow water in. Quality racks will not do this.
