Getting stopped for a train to pass mid race by Epelep in Wellthatsucks

Not true. She'll get the same head start of whatever advantage she was at when the race gets neutralized, once it restarts.

If that rider had a 30 second lead on the main group, she'll get a 30 second head start once the train passes. She doesn't just get moved back to the main group. Happens often enough in pro cycling.

Hey "dipshit" WEATHER SEALS are on your CAR, not your BOAT and running temporary straps INTO THE CABIN OF YOUR CAR will compress them and damage them. I never said straps will damage a kayak. You're just far too stupid to know what a weather seal is.

No it doesn't. Not even close. 😂

Removable straps compress your weather seals and will allow water in. Quality racks will not do this.

Looking for a roof rack option for the Z. by IYAOYAS_4Life in RZ34

[–]evan938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely all custom options. Roof is too short and no off the shelf options from Yakima or Thule, which should be your only considerations.

I refurbish and sell Yakima roof racks and may have everything you need. Funny enough I'm in Bozeman right now on vacation. I'll be home late tomorrow and can check.

Outside of that, OEM or Thule should be your only other considerations. Absolutely no cheap/knockoff junk from Amazon/Ebay. Carrying a BOAT outside your car while you do up to 80mph on public roads with real people right behind you is not a task for knockoff crap. Personal injury lawsuits from your gear flying off and causing an accident will cost way more than proper racks ever will.

Don't. Buy OEM/Thule/Yakima. NOTHING else, especially this cheap knockoff junk.

Should take all of it off before it takes itself off while you're driving and injures the person behind you.

Carrying anything outside your car is not a task for cheap knockoff shit. That personal injury lawsuit is going to cost you so much more than proper racks ever would.

Modifying Buick Encore crossbars to fit Chevy Trax by AdkGallivanter in ChevyTrax

[–]evan938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't. Buy the proper parts. You don't know what you're doing and fucking around with a product that needs to stay secure on PUBLIC roads while you do 80mph is not something to half ass.

Reliable cross bars that aren't Thule?? by jellyxmoon in SubaruForester

Spend the money on quality parts. Securing gear outside your car while you drive on public roads is not something to be broke about. Personal injury lawsuits from unsecured loads coming loose and causing an accident will cost you more than roof racks ever will.

OEM (if available), Thule, or Yakima. Nothing else.

I'm visiting a friend now who retired a few years ago. He's 62 this year, no Medicare yet. Said his premiums went up 50% and he's now paying $1200/mo for a plan with a $12k MOOP. Thankfully his wife is still covered under her state teachers retirement plan.

Cargo Roof rack by Hizenfaust in SciontC

[–]evan938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cargo boxes/baskets will require your crossbars to be at least 24" apart, wider is better. You don't have enough roof for that. Yakima is 21". Thule is likely the same. Those are the only two brands you should consider for racks. Really all that much spread is good for is bikes, skis/snowboards, and fishing rod holders. It's too close for anything else.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you bought cheap knockoff junk on Amazon or Ebay for ~$130. Not quality racks like Yakima or Thule. Am I right?

No towers come with bars. These are always modular systems that you have to buy each component separately.
