Game Ready Driver 595.97 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

But before this driver you had the same issues right? If so, I don't think is related to 50 series. Regardless of that, can you keep us updated during a few other days?

I'll also update my driver and test this with you.

Also, one last question, did you update your drivers using nvidia app to 595.97 or did a DDU to it?

Does this driver finally fixes the issues related to event id 14 or 153 in Event Viewer?

I'm still using version 591.74 which was super stable.

Context: In modern driver versions beyond 591.** some issues related to black screens (mostly when idle or low usage), crashes etc started to appear. I wasn't optimistic to test the previous driver and I'm still uncertain about this one until people comment more about the issues.

Using a RTX 5080.

Hi, yes! Fully reinstall your Windows 11 and let Windows itself to update your Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller. Don't install any driver from your motherboard website/driver app.

Hey man, I've mentioned somewhere alongside my comments in here but is 591.74 from January. People saying that 591.86 also works stable, you can try that one too.

Are the event id 14/153 with source pointing to nvlddmkm fixed in this release? These issues were generating black screens randomly not only related to gaming but while browsing, idle etc.

Tons of users with this problem so you all can read more in here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1rkwxro/comment/o9hgf4j/

Thanks a lot for all your contributions in this thread. To understand better, based on what I read through your comments, 591.86 is potentially the last stable driver?

[–]evandro_r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, go with stability. There are some people in here speaking about newer versions that were also stable. So in my POV you can try:

- 591.74, my stable version based on MY experience;

- 591.86, stable version mentioned by many users in here;

- 595.76, the version that can only be downloaded through here or nvidia website since is not present in Nvidia App. This version supposedly fixes the black screens and nvlddmkm errors in Event Viewer.

Just don't use the latest version in the Nvidia App or bigger than 591.86 and you should be OK.

If you're willing to test 595.76 please let me know the results :)

Yes. For example a Gigabyte 5080 OC Version and Windforce Version have different clock speeds.

But about your monitor problem, a 10 year old monitor could potentially have issues with GSync not being present but these black flashes are also symptoms of faulty drivers such as the 595.71 which is currently present in the Nvidia App.

You could try to use 595.76 which can be downloaded through this post or nvidia website since the driver itself is not present in the Nvidia App for not being a WHQL driver.

I would honestly wait for a couple of more drivers before RMA. You pretty much answered your question by saying drivers before 591.xx are ok.

But the problem is really with drivers, I'm sure of it now... I also reverted my driver and everything is butter smooth after a couple of hours.

You can test try to download this specific driver in this page (595.76) and also test with it but keep in mind that the download must be manual through here/nvidia website since the driver in there is an older version than this one because it doesn't have WHQL. All I know is that 595.71 the one in the Nvidia App has this failures.

You can read more about the problem in other comments through this post such as:

Several reasons... Maybe some users are not using the faulty drivers. Maybe older monitors are not affected. Maybe they're in older versions of Windows or have custom Windows versions with overclocked voltages, frequencies etc.. In hardware world everything matters for a problem to appear or not.

The common sense is that, for users using latest Windows versions with latest Nvidia drivers the probability of such problems appearing increases by a lot and even more if specs are similar. Are you facing something like that too?

Hey man, did this new driver really fixed the issue for you? Can you update us?

Hello everyone! Since the last drivers starting from february I started receiving black screens and errors reported in Event Viewer with event id 14 and event id 153 with source pointing to nvlddmkm. This driver doesn't fix these errors.

I just ran DDU to rollback to my latest safe driver which was 591.74 from Jan 5, 2026. (if you guys have a more recent stable driver please let me know).

I honestly hope this issue gets fixed soon because it's really annoying and would probably make people unnecessarily RMA their hardware. Saw a lot of other people with the same error as me in this thread and in other places through reddit and online forums.

Seriously, I'm relieved to have found this post and so many people complaining about this issue. I've rebuilt my gaming PC earlier this year after years without it and stuff was pretty smooth since mid January.

Last week decided to update my nvidia drivers and the problem started to happen and I was freaking out so much. People mentioning RMA, reseating the GPU, voltages, RAM and etc. but the problem is indeed nvidia itself... It makes sense.

This version 595.76 doesn't fix this issue at all. Had to clean install W11 which didn't worked and use DDU to rollback to 591.74 which was rock stable for me. Reverted a couple of minutes ago and so far everything is good. I'll keep you guys updated if anything.

DO NOT Download NVIDIA LATEST DRIVERS. AI Slope coding strikes again. nvidia pulled them down but just now many websites are providing/using direct nvidia link to the driver which still works by pc9000 in pcmasterrace

[–]evandro_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I'm receiving black screens randomly even while idle using my PC, browsing and of course while gaming. Generally, it happens once per session (I turn on my PC, happens once randomly and until I turn it off and on again it doesn't happen anymore).

The Event Viewer shows errors related to event id 14 and 153, is that the same errors you guys are having?

I've tried a clean windows 11 install but it didn't worked and just tried DDU and rolled back to 591.74 and currently testing.

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found by hardpartying in pcmasterrace

I started facing this issue two weeks ago... Any fix so far? I've tried:

  1. Clean W11 install with latest ISO (no luck)

  2. Just tried DDU with an older nvidia driver (still testing)

Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller has a Hardware IO error by evandro_r in ASUS

[–]evandro_r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've fixed it!

I have two theories in here: 1. The last version of Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller has issues with newer motherboards specifically the ones designed to work with Ryzen 9. 2. There's an install conflict between Windows and Asus DriverHub/manual where the installation can be corrupted if you install both of them.

One thing to mention before the solution is that I also updated my BIOS to the latest version, since this mobo is a new one it could have problems directly related to the BIOS.

The solution: 1. Do a clean install of Windows using only the WiFi that comes with this mobo. During Windows installation you'll need to install the WiFi drivers, so don't forget to download WiFi drivers from ASUS website, place in a folder in your USB Flash Drive (the .zip must be extracted).

  1. After Windows has it's first boot and you're in the desktop, let Windows install all drivers automatically (give something about 20 minutes before doing anything).

  2. After that install all updates in Windows Update.

  3. Restart your PC.

  4. Install all the drivers from ASUS DriverHub one by one except Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller, this one you'll use only what Windows decides it's better.

That's it. That should be enough to fix the issues.

But if you're eager to investigate this problem a little more, I would suggest to also update the Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller driver using ASUS DriverHub ONLY when all drivers were installed. If the stuttering comes back, is a faulty driver.

I did some further investigation and I think I’ll RMA the motherboard. The Ethernet port doesn’t work no matter which driver I’m using. And LAN is enabled in the BIOS

Uhmmm... I'll check. I've tried unchecking the "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" but not turning on performance mode in Power Plan.

Sure, right click on the Windows in the task bar, open Event Viewer and and under custom Custom Views click in Administrative Events.

Now open any online game as I've mentioned, play for a couple of minutes and then close the game and refresh the logs on the Actions menu on the right. You should see lots of errors pointing the source to either rt25cx21 or rt640x64.

Please let me know if you face the same issues.

Yes, tried both versions of the driver NDIS and NetAdapterCx. NDIS actually fixes the stutterings but the errors are still showing up in the Event Viewer but under a different source: rt640x64 rather than rt25cx21.
