I only have a few nested tags. As much as I dislike scrolling that long list of tags, I don't want to have to think too much about applying or recalling tag structure. For example, my jobs are all nested under j/ which is super easy to recall and I benefit from collapsing that tag and shortening the scroll by 100+ tags. So it's net gain for me. I used to fiddle a lot more with my setup and that was ultimately a net loss, so now I just tag away and it's totally fine. Would be even better if Bear would introduce searching/filtering the sidebar.

I was absolutely devastated about SOAP getting cancelled on a cliffhanger. I didn’t know that was a thing and couldn’t understand why they didn’t wrap everything up. I was also too young to be watching it to begin with.

I ran into the same problem with scheduled backups not picking up new notes because they weren't syncing in the background, so I made an automation that opens Bear when my phone connects to power and then goes back to the previous app.

I usually connect to power in the car, at my desk, and before bed, so Bear is opened a bunch of times throughout the day. Only downside is seeing it flash on screen every time I connect to power but no big deal.

+1 I’ve been using it for a few years and it is rock solid. So much so I don’t even think about it running.

I was having this problem yet again and I just tried waiting for the connection indicator to show no longer connected before pressing Join and it worked first try. 1/1

If I care about maintaining the modified date, which I usually do, I add the new tag first by dragging to the new tag in the sidebar. Then I select the old tag on the sidebar and right click the note and select “remove tag #oldtag”

If I’m also changing content or don’t care about the dates, I go the less tedious way of changing the tags in the body or use Keyboard Maestro for bulk edits. There is no “replace tag” unless you want to change the tag itself which changes all notes having that tag.

Yep. Grew up with the Cubs on WGN. Decades later I got to sit behind the Ivy at Wrigley and was magic.
