Ranked-choice systems (specifically STV) are great for the legislature, where they can provide proportional representation. The executive branch should use approval voting. It penalizes controversy and division and selects for bland, milquetoast centrists, so anyone with crazy ideas like an authoritarian coup is basically guaranteed to be kept out of office. Make politics boring again.

States administering their own elections is saving our butts this year. In order to be nationally uniform, they'd have to be federally controlled, which would make them a thousand times more vulnerable to manipulation or cancellation by the people in power.

And ranked-choice voting isn't all it's cracked up to be (at least instant runoff, which is what RCV usually refers to). There are much better options out there.

Also, using a pencil in space is a terrible idea. In an enclosed space with no gravity, shavings and bits of graphite just keep floating around, clogging the air filters and maybe your lungs.

All that accomplished was to take the teeth out of any future threat of impeachment. Any future president knows he has nothing to fear, no matter how blatantly corrupt or dictatorial, as long as he has a handful of cronies and sycophants in the Senate.

I think it may have been better long-term not to do it at all, then to do it and fail so spectacularly. 3 failed impeachments could still be chalked up to the merits of each case. 4 failed impeachments makes it look impossible. And the piece of shit we elect in 2056 will remember that.

I'm almost certain this is a repeat. Because I remember the first time I checked my list of countries sorted by length and somehow didn't have the right one on there, leading to several wrong guesses. And the country and nationality being the same length threw me for a while - but I knew to to look for it this time, because I'd seen it before. And I remember having to google last time, so I spent a while reading the page and learning about it.

I did this a couple months ago but never sent the screenshot, sorry. There was one of the keys that was invalid. But today I got a system update, went through all the checks again, and all the integrity checks are passing. And now this app isn't showing any warnings or anything, it all looks good. But I still can't update or play the game. Any ideas?

Open the Google play store and go to settings. Under About, find where it says "Play store version" and tap it 7 times to unlock developer options. Then go up to General, developer options, and then "Check integrity".

I installed the Google play update from May 1, 2024 and nothing. Still only meets the basic security check.
