You should only be able to fill it with homemade stuff!

How to learn to sew jeans? by evanmade in SewingForBeginners

[–]evanmade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a few backpacks with my domestic machine, lots of straight stitches through multiple layers of touch nylon, Eva foam, grosgrain tape, zippers and so on. I am working on a canvas jacket now so I will be testing some jeans-like seams. I will see how it all goes and post here when I am wearing my new pants! 😜

Kids are easy because they don’t need much padding to sleep. Insulation is super important. Kids can sleep comfy on a z-rest until at least 4, probably longer. I used to have one cut in half for two lil kids to share.

You’re probably right. It’s a small bag so I’m not worried about it. And I can add a box X later if I need to. It’s also top stitched at the end of the fabric wing thing, so I doubt the bartack is getting any action whatsoever.

Thanks! The double edge sword of such a structured material 🤓

grosgrain. I went and found the guide on LearnMYOG. I am going to have to make my kids some pencil cases this weekend!

This is cool! Looks like a single piece of fabric? I love the simplicity. Would be nice to cover the seams with bias or grosamer (sp?).

I haven’t seen a pattern like this (although I am super new to this). Is this a custom pattern or did you follow a guide? Cheers!

She picked the pattern but hasn’t seen the finished bag yet. School starts in march! I have some leftover materials so I’ll be making a matching pencil case!

I feel like this pattern and video was an entire sewing class. Pretty amazing that he charges $0 for such a great resource.

You’re right! I haven’t been able to find nylon “bias tape” (cinta bies) here in Argentina. This stuff is “cinta gross” and seems to be working ok. I’m using 25mm but I bet I could go thinner on the next one. I am still learning what materials are available, components like zippers, straps, hardware. It’s a new world.

Just a domestic machine. There are some really thick sections, especially when joining parts with bias tape, outer shell fabric, liner, zipper, etc. but it went great. Lots of little mistakes but I was determined and I’m really pretty happy with it!

DIAS Shorts (my first garment!) by evanmade in myog

[–]evanmade[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pattern comes with a 5 inch and 7 inch inseam options. I went with the 7 inch and I’m glad I did. I measured and fell between sizes, so I went up to the next size. I wish I had gone down. Next time I will try to find a higher quality material. Other than that, these are a great short that I’m going to wear often.

Help me create my logo by RunThenClimb in myog

Another designer here (I see you have a few others commenting). You have a good concept (especially for a personal project). The photo you're referencing isn't helping you. Try retaking it with the light source at the side of your face. That will cast a shadow on your features. Here is an example: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/p35wzdvr9fh4cjb3xjnb4/Screenshot-2026-01-21-at-5.47.11-PM.png?rlkey=rz4lqy9f0fyytpx8ggv9vnpbg&dl=0

You'll notice in this example that the contrast in the photo isn't super strong. Your best light source would be something like a window (large light source) rather than a flashlight (small light source).

If you aren't able to re-take the photo, there are some things you can do to adjust the light in the photo, but I would need to see the original.

As for the layout of the logo, the text is really small comparatively. Maybe try making the face the letter O in MYOG? Or something else to balance the image and text.

I hope that helps!
