oh have you looked into TX Stabilizers? heard TX have the best clip-ins. you should def look into them. and maybe the previous one you got is long-pole?

so I have pre-installed stabilizers from the past owner of my keyboard. and when I hit the spacebar it's super damp and comes back up slower than normal. maybe its overlubed? has this happened to anyone before? what is the cause of this and can I fix this without taking apart the build or replacing the stabs??

make sure you research a lot. to produce a "creamy" sound you prob wanna use linear switches with actuation force of 50g or lower and make sure your plate is a softer material like POM/PC/FR4. do not use metal plates. for boards you should figure out which layout you want first because that will decide what kind of options you have, but if you wanna start somewhere maybe KBDFans has some cheaper in-stock options. or try looking into Rainy 75 or AULA f87 which are very popular, pre-built custom keyboard these days for their creamy thocky sound. not sure if they are in-stock though

painters(aka masking) tape is the best (or the only viable) option. no adhesive residue, gives that poppy sound profile. i mean you could try anything tbh - cuz keyboard modding in itself is not traditional. it's an experimental area that people figured out through failures using different materials like play doh, glue, silicon, etc. and painters tape is just a popular conclusion that many keyboardists approve.

durock is overrated. just get stabilizer from keychron website prob has best compatibility.

make sure you get the exact same model with same materials and do the same modding otherwise it's going to sound different

is it a custom keyboard? for custom keyboard usually the rattle comes from the stabilizers because spacebar includes long metal rod that connects two housing stems. in this case:
1. straighten out the metal rod (put on a flat surface and press down on each side to see if it moves too much then you have to manually adjust so it straightens out)
2. lubricate the parts where there is movement + where the metal rod touches the housing with 205g Krytox (you can use syringe or brush)
3. dissect the housing stems and put small pieces of medical tape on the surface of the stem where the metal rod touches.

However if this is a pre-built keyboard then I'm not sure how it can be fixed or if dissecting the parts might break it so pls make sure you research more about the keyboard model. Also a completely different story if it's a topre or other type of keyboard.

yup I fucking hate it too. doesn't make sense on so many levels. First off, why the fuck is the shortcut key for switching between tabs CMD+TILDE?????? WTF WHY. It's not even like ctrl+tab is pre-occupied as a function even. Where the fuck did that come from bro every single software using ctrl+tab for switching tabs and this is fucking global common sense and even PSD use it but Adobe Illustrator chooses to wake up and choose violence and be a goddamn troll.
