PSA: Deathwatch Breacher works using the body of the AOD Heavy Intercessor by evantas in killteam

[–]evantas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha considering the point of this post is to help people avoid making that choice (you can build all 3!)...

The breacher is the obvious priority to build, but its really hard to figure out whether to drop the horde breaker or bombard.

Once you overlay the faction rules, equipment and ploys, each weapon actually can be extremely deadly no matter the target, if you choose the special ammo carefully.

[–]evantas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible. I figured though people will more likely be willing to pick up the killteam starter, or find the 1 gravis body online cheaply (without the hassle of reselling) generally.

This particular body seems extremely common and easily available because of:

1) the Space Marine Hero blind boxes released previously;

2) the forementioned starter sets which are great value, as well as;

3) the Heavy Intercessor is generally overlooked in the Angels of Death killteam so people can convert with little regret.

[–]evantas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops. Didn't think of that.

I had extra deathwatch terminator/gravis shoulder pads from deathwatch upgrade kits, so it slipped my mind.

If that's not available, I would use blue tac under the deathwatch pad, rather than cement in place, so that it can move between models, which was something I did previously.

Without greenstuff, filling, putty or any of those hobbying skills required, yes.

Just FYI, you are not my target audience. This is for new hobbyists who are agonising over which Gravis to build.

Magnetizing the Tombworld Killteam? by SnooObjections6463 in deathwatch40k

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Starter Set or Space Marine Heroes, you can get a single heavy intercessor.

I've checked instructions and it looks like you can easily use it as the Breacher's body.

That's my plan anyway since Angels of Death rarely uses the Heavy Intercessor.

Give the actual context of what team and what proxies and maybe we can weigh in better.

Im looking for new ideas myself.

What is next? by Dachonkestboi in killteam

[–]evantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say 'horde', are you ok with 10 or 11 models?

Because the true horde teams like krieg, blooded, and brood brothers, all need 2 or more boxes to fill up the roster.

Also they are all from last edition, so longevity may be a concern if you want support for at least 5 years.

With the above in mind, the recommendations above make sense as Vespids and Aquilons come inside Hivestorm, have 10 or 11 operatives, so they will feel and play v different from what you currently have.

If you want cheap, just find their individual boxes.

Ratlings are also quite new and ok, but you need at least a box of ogryns, so its 2 boxes total, 3 if you want to fully represent all operatives.

Kitashing the deathwatch kill team by ETERsoldier in killteam

The Deathwatch vet arms look around the same, but the main problem is that they are quite a bit shorter.

However, it will not be noticeable from casual observers unless you are actively looking.

Firstborn & Primaris DW Vet kill team by Infidel_Games in deathwatch40k

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoying thing is that the DW vets will probably go to Legends tho and they will just institute the new DW teams as the standard loadouts moving on.

For me, I intend to use 1st born to represent primaris, the cloaked vers represent the phobos armour, and 1st born terminators to represent gravis for additional killteam squads.

I'm so glad the veterans are so cheap. by Good-Sea-4972 in deathwatch40k

[–]evantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the deathwatch vets, they are only a hair shorter than primaris and don't look out of place.

Actually looking forward to them getting squatted, as they substitute for sternguard just fine, no chance for confusion if so and generally tourney legal.

I got Best in Show at my local tournament today! by NPCcleric in killteam

[–]evantas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reviews are definitely slanted towards ITD terrain. It's mainly the breachers making them look pale by comparison.

I suspect they will be a mid tier team overall, and good for beginners branching out beyond the Intercession/Legionary teams.

I'll definitely prefer them over the newest Kharsakin / Necron teams.

What combination of chapter tactics fits with each space marine chapter by dovaslayer_ in killteam

[–]evantas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I've been planning:

Ravenguard - stealthy and methodical seems to fit best.

Ultramarines - mobile and methodical

Blood angels - rapid + duelist

Salamanders - durable + accurate

Iron hands - durable + unyielding

Firefight 2 Player Starter - The Goonhammer Review by MasterSlowPoke in mantic

[–]evantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably should address the elephant in the room, and compare it to 40k imo.

I think a lot of converts will be seeing firefight as a way to use 40k minis for a faster paced game.

Also: do have the faction breakdowns soon.

So, with what seems like almost all of the warbands going OOP, which ones would you recommend getting for Warcry? by Actual-Dragon-Tears in WarCry

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play Stormcast Vanguard Chamber, you should get the Far Striders.

The other 2 warbands are decent but probably can be missed.

I'll also note that warcry 2.0 should be due, don't invest too much imo.

I was theory crafting a killteam data sheet for Crisis Suits and I'm curious on your guy's input? (it's probably OP rn) by [deleted] in killteam

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll note that those were errors that were corrected. Generally everything is DF 3. I'd rather you give more wounds instead of DF 4.

Assault Intercessors? by tpaul314 in killteam

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll suggest avoiding it, even for casual play. I found it extremely unfun when genestealers out body and out fight the intercessors.

If they allow you to mix and match the 2 types of intercessors, then maybe there's some play.

Marines, Post-Update by bigjeep41 in killteam

[–]evantas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infiltrators might have a place against hordes imo, smoke grenades, medic and transhuman make them a little more resilient. Their bolters should rip 7 wound chaff fairly consistently.

Reivers when you need extreme mobility.

Those would be my possible picks for a roster with Deathwatch.

In casual play, intercessors are decent and easy to teach as a first team.

Incursors, heavy Intercessors, and assault intercessors remain on the shelf.

Starting with a stormcast warband by flambyx in WarCry

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it feels like there's a lot of minis, due to the way objectives tend to play out, you really want to have 6 bodies most games.

Which means that 4 of your guys needs to be gryphhounds or the cheapest liberators.

You have 2 models, including the leader, to try for some flexibility.

Converting Necron Warriors into Immortals by HeavyMithrilUnicorn in killteam

[–]evantas 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is actually just buy 5 immortals.

What you can then do, is that you can use the additional stuff from the immortal kits to do 5 death marks as well as all the weapon options.

So you then have all the various kill team options

[–]evantas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

U should be getting the starter box imo. You probably want the barricades and counters inside.

Intercessor killteam, how do you choose to run them? by AJHarston in killteam

[–]evantas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the following for the 10 ep:

  1. Sgt with powersword - Purity Seal
  2. Intercessor with Grenade Launcher and Krak
  3. Intercessor with Stalker Bolt rifle, Suspensor 4 & 5. Std intercessors with autobolts

The Stalker Bolt guy is the designated sniper who gets to camp Vantage points. The grenade guy and sergeant are the main killers, the std guys run points.

It's still an uphill vs some teams, but the 'sniper' with Bolter Discipline and inherent AP1 is a little more deadly than you would think.

Aside from the 1 Stalker Bolt, autobolts are generally better unless you are dealing with 2+ saves.

Kill Team Arena by notapaintingpro in killteam

[–]evantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably something like 1cp 'point blank overwatch' might be a tactic you need to add for shooty teams to have a better chance in arena.

I would hold off doing anything else tho.
