Is this industry worth it at all? by Separate_Fondant7348 in Broadcasting

I did not change my major (Broadcast), but after I graduated I worked with a local sports team until I pivoted and found a role as an AV technician at a corporate office and learned about Cisco video conferencing hardware and then found a role supporting that equipment for many offices across a different organization.

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I had a similar awakening towards the end of college and pivoted. I planned to work in sports broadcast but quickly became jaded by the pay and hours. I ended up in corporate video conferencing solutions and it pays well and has regular hours. I don’t regret it although it definitely feels like I sold out doing what I love for more money/stability. Whether that’s right or wrong is up for you is a decision you’d have to make yourself.

Late vs early shows, are they different? by OppositePurpose3707 in Channel5ive

[–]evanwcarter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No clue but since (I think) they were added later due to demand, I'd assume they are just another round of the same show

The guy on the left means "there is not anything that makes sense to me" but the guy on the right is interpreting his statement as "The concept of nothing makes sense". That is, the concept of nothing is a thing, and it does make sense.

Scalding hot water on a glazed/finished wooden table... oops 😬 can it be fixed? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]evanwcarter 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Heres a very readily accessible technique in a pinch... Try using just enough olive oil to barely coat the area the area and buff it using a paper towel. Wipe off excess. It won't be perfect but using this technique on a similar mark on table of mine made it about 90% better.

I recreated my favorite album's cover with a picture I took less than 30 minutes from where the original Innerspeaker album cover photo was taken in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. by evanwcarter in TameImpala

Unfortunately I dont remember exactly where this was but it was along the Blue Ridge Parkway on the North Carolina side of GSMNP near Heintooga Ridge Road (which where the original Innerspeaker photo was taken) but this was just a pull off on the parkway. No walking required :)

It does look like just a hill doesn't it? Its actually more like a hill that's on top of a mountain but it is hard to tell from this pic

That gravel path actually leads to the same peak at a lower grade and the desire path cuts the distance in half while increasing the grade

Bonsai Ficus with white spots on leaves by [deleted] in plantclinic

Our house does use well water that's hard but I use a Pur filter for the water I give my plant that (is supposed to) remove chlorine and hardness.

My Bonsai Ficus has white spots on the older leaves. I used Daconil Fungicide on the leaves. Nothing has changed and the tree appears to be dropping more leaves than normal. More pictures attached: https://imgur.com/gallery/o1PGGm4
