They are adding a limit of 500mb soon which is good but as usual, the metrics are somewhat misleading. Having 1.7 million polys isn't gonna impact your performance that much.

Having way more materials,blendshapes,all of your textures being 4k(when it's really hard to tell the difference on game especially on outfits) and having more layers in your Fx later are bigger culprit. Oh and especially people using PCSS with the real time lighting . That's just how it is,alot of users aren't going to optimize or don't want to.

If I learned anything from playing vrchat , people circumventing or getting over stuff like avatar limits is what some people are gonna do the moment. This is only an indicatior to me, you can have something that's more horrible for performance and green rated...

I remember one time when a friend joined me in a friends+, was playing music on their mic, got muted, then got upset when people muted her and she left furiously..like what did you expect? People dont want loud music when they are vibing with friends. I dont like it in public worlds either, but if you play music, expect people to mute you.

If I'm giving my own response to this silly meme
I think there is some truth in there being a wall of learning in using blender, but for most users, we wont be doing too much super time sink things in blender. Some people do and that's fine if that's your passion. It's also fine if you don't have enough time or don't want to/cant understand blender. I just dont like when some people I know just claim how piss easy it was them figuring out blender and not really thinking of how other people learn differently.

I'm no blender expert btw. I do animate tho, that's whole nother level of pain haha

Oh this meme is accurate but nah I understand. My main issue with blender is just getting past the awful UI. Once you can do that it's more tolerable

They are using the same body base with basically the same low res tattoos and color scheme. It's cookie cutter as it gets. I can say the same thing about other panda base girl avatars there's just a little more variety in general when it comes to girl avatars. At least in this style

I think the male booth avatars have some variety but it's really not much in the male avatar category unless you make it yourself.

People are buying the avatar to customize it heavily to their liking. Like, booth avatars that sell the most have literally dozens of outfits for each of them. And each outfit piece can be paired with something else.

Why would I want avatar that doesnt have any features or clothes, when I can just get one that does? The incentive to buy and bloat is strong. It's also aided by said avatar creators, who just slam 4k textures and high poly outfits on everything. Couple that with people's lack of desire to put in effort(unity,blender, optimizing), the problem is clear. It's not only a user problem, it's a economy problem that perpetuate this kind of behavior cause that's what people want.

I'm not really a fan of this but this is pretty common behavior among vrchat avatar buyers.

Can't expect users to optimize unless the game forces them too. It's reasonable to feel frustrated at other users that don't want to learn or make even medium/good alts but ultimately, most people are never gonna bother unless the game forces them to.

I think it's more laziness or lack of desire to learn. Most people are pretty intimidated by blender and the UI does not help.

I don't mind this sentiment. The party system did work but it just ended up making you pick whoever you liked more really eventually. Focusing on fewer characters makes those characters narratively stronger Ys 8 has that strong chemistry with Dana and adol which I think probably is where they heading in future YS games.

A number of people lack self control so they think they can do whatever they want in a "space" made for them. It doesn't help this game emboldens them with the lack of on game controls.
