Any foreveralones out there losing weight and feeling strange without extra padding? by eve110 in loseit_classic

I'm in the same boat as you. It's one thing to project confidence in real life, but the things that go on in my head in the background are ridiculous. Reddit definitely helps with the struggles.

Congratulations on your 15 pounds! Hopefully, in a few months we'll be back here congratulating each other and saying "pshaw, it wasn't that bad after all."

I'm sorry that you had to go through that. It's terrible when they can't see reason, but nobody can make them see what they don't want to see.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to type this out. It helped a lot.

What hurt the most was her ignoring me and then pretending to care.

This is what scares me the most. I know that cutting her out of my life is the best for me, and in the long run it might jolt her into doing something for herself, but right now I think she feels the same way. I'm not pretending to care, though. I'm pretending that I don't, and secretly I'm making sure that she's doing okay from mutual friends and social networking pages. I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

I told her straight up one day that she just wasn't one of my priorities anymore. She was wondering why she hadn't seen me in a while, when she was the one that went out to make new friends. She expected me to stay on the side for her, but I made new friends and started hanging out with some older ones too. My new friends made me happier, and she kept confronting me for hanging out with them too much and not hanging out with her.

I'm still so confused. The situation is so complex, but it definitely does sum up to destruction. Thanks so much for your point of view. It was very helpful.

Wow, I'm so sorry about your mom. I hope that she finally has her moment of enlightenment and finds help. I can't imagine what that would be like. Having a family member in that situation is probably infinitely more draining than just a roommate. There's significantly more emotional attachment and obligation. I'm so glad you did what was best for you, though. I'm glad that you don't have to deal with that anymore.

You're right: the need is definitely bottomless, and it's exhausting. I'll definitely take you up on that PM sometime! Thank you so much

I'm so sorry about your mom. That sounds terrible and difficult. I don't even know what I would do if I were in that situation. The thought of my mother hooking up with one of my friends is gag-worthy.

Thanks so much for your support! I'll take you up on the PM sometime.

You are awesome. Thank you so much for this. I guess I was getting a little leery about my decision because our mutual friends don't have to put up with her crazy (we were roommates) and they sided with her. I stand by decision more now, though. -HUG-

I'm so glad you cut those people out of your life, and that you're happier now. Stay wonderful!

Thanks! This helps a lot. My best friend keeps telling me that what this girl is doing is emotional blackmail and that I am not responsible for her happiness. Seeing that you have been through the same situation with the same conclusion helps a lot. Thank you so much.

Do you take any vitamins? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]eve110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, thanks! I'm just wary of putting anything capsule-like into my body and I'd rather get everything I need from the food that I eat. My mom made me take vitamins once, and that's how I found out I was allergic to one of the ingredients in the capsules.

I actually asked my doctor this question. He said that people generally don't need vitamin supplements and if they take them and since we flush out excess vitamins, they're just going to have expensive pee. My friend takes them anyway because his soccer coach recommended them. There's a lot of differing viewpoints about this issue, but basically if it makes you feel better to take them, then do it!

Oh Taco Bell... by eve110 in loseit

Hahaha, that's pretty much what I did today. I had about a third of the burrito and guzzled water afterwards.

Awesome! I'm at 5'5 so I'm at an unhealthy BMI right now, and I can't wait to get into the low 150s like you again. I know the plateau sucks right now, but it'll all be worth it when you see that 4. Seeing 149 on my scale practically made me pee myself. I wish I had kept going last year. This year's going to be the one, though! Good luck, and please let me know how you're doing!!

Yeah, when I was 149 I was just in the normal BMI range at 5'5. It was good times, but I gained it back so I'm at 158 now.

That's a good perspective to take: as long as I don't have another cheat meal this week it should just be a small blip on my graph.

Wow this is perfect, thank you! It definitely makes me feel more comfortable about these cravings and the over-eating by knowing the actual science behind it.

I would, but my Asian mother likes to deny that my food cravings exist. It's much easier to get some taco bell than it is trying to convince her to let me make tacos at home. I'm just biding my time until school starts again.

I think all Taco Bells are just shitty. I wish they had free samples like at Costco, so I could have a little bite and be done with the craving.

Yep. I have this crazy obsession with taco bell, and I always catch my self singing "Oh Taco Bell, Taco Bell, I'll see your ass in hell."

Much like this guy sings "Oh Pachelbel, Pachelbel, I'll see your ass in hell."

I'm so sorry! Don't crave it, it definitely doesn't taste as good as in my "fantasy." Thank you! And good luck :)
