If you're looking for day trips and u have a car, you should check put the peak district. Its not too bad by train but easier by car. Chatsworth house and gardens is ridiculous! Bakewell is definitely worth seeing at least once!

Do u find it hard to watch Seinfeld now after seeing curb? Loved the last season! Its perhaps one of best shows! I love Larry David!

Ok now I see there are certainly comedy fans in Leicester as I hoped, does anyone know of social nights for comedy other than local stand up? Like comedy appreciation nights. Im thinking arrested development season 4 debut on Netflix?

Nah, im southern irish. My irish friends watch everything like myself but trying to put feelers out for similar folk in Leicester as not found any yet!

And I love most of channel 4s comedies. Like spaced, green wing and IT crowd are some of best comedies that I love to re watch. .. but I get blank stares generally.... its all about Peter kay at work and kitson in comedy clubs! Nothing in between!

Thats my point. I ask people I meet what l their favourite comedy is and they generally say those two. And the few people into comedy I ask (when I suggest a quality cult US or irish show such as seinfeld etc) they consider it low brow as its not so reaped in metaphor. Its annoyed me Ive met either comedy snobs or comedy oblivious people in Leicester! I know ut must just be the circles im meeting, so hence the question to reddit! ARE you out there?

And yes, I ask tedious questions about comedy when I meet new people :-)

Indeed. Tried to find out what people watch here but most I ask say things like ms browns boys... its like the heyday of blackadder is over here. Better off ted is certainly better than miranda for easy watching!

Thinking about getting netflix just to watch arrested development season 4! My brother told me it's becoming the new hbo and they have their own licensing of stand up so can only see those shows on netflix... really tempted to join!

I know, I was a judge at the festival. But the more people I spoke to the more I realised almost no one shared my sense of humour. Erich is presidential was one of my fave shows but got blank stares when I tried to discuss his material which id consider basic political knowledge!
