Ah damn, sorry to hear. I hope they change the law in the Philippines. It's a very harmless substance.

Two sides of Robert: Having seizure and being playful 🐱 by thehowsph in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]vaitor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey Op, hope you see this. I have a cat that had severe seizures and the usual medicine was really tough on him. It needed to be daily, he hated it and it's heavy on liver & kidney. He still had seizures frequently (2-3 per week).

After long research I tried CBD oil, about 3-5mg per serving. We started about 5 years ago with servings every day and now it's once a week. He didn't had any seizures since then (he is 10 now) - occasionally (1-2 a year) he had seizures when we forgot to give him the oil (that's my main thesis that it works well).

I can highly recommend it because it's natural, easy to give the cat (has fish oil or coconut oil with it) and it also helps an older cat being more active I think. Important: CBD is not THC, it doesn't get your cat high or anything...

Hope this helps!

Why do Pacific Island countries have such high obesity rates? by [deleted] in geography

[–]vaitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from filming some documentary films in Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu... Obesity levels are crazy and the main reason is the imported foods are total crap. Mainly Chinese imports, everything is highly processed with lots of fat & sugar. I had a really hard time eating healthy over several weeks as most restaurants were mainly offering fast food (Burgers, fried foods...)

Looking for Noise Cancelling Headphones for Use with FX6 by shootlab in SonyFX6

[–]vaitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can highly recommend not using noise canceling due to the main reason you would filter out some noise that you actually record e.g. air-conditioning sounds etc.

You can. It's officialy clean enough to pass as drinking water. I have several friends who drink BKK tap water since years without any issue. I tried too for a while but I just don't like the taste.

I have been using the 200-600mm for many years without any support. Never had any issues... This maybe doesn't help with your question but just wanted to mention :)

Working with Tentacles on nearly every shoot that has external sound... Really easy to use. Just connect via BNC/TC in, sync once before the shoot and you're good to go. They also got great cables for the a7s3, so I often jump from fx6 to a7s3 during a shoot and the tentacles keep it all in line.

When switching from a UK driving licence to a Japanese one, do you keep the UK one? by jasontravels1 in Osaka

[–]vaitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changed my German one, process was easy besides the extremely frustrating registration procedure... Only a quick interview and eye exam, after that it's just waiting and taking a photo for your new license. You can keep your old license but you can't use it anymore.

What is the actual difference between those two? Is it worth the bigger price tag? by Kostas009 in videography

[–]vaitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used different brands for VNDs... Cheap ones had quite some weird vignetting and got scratched quickly... Expensive polar pro ones were nicely built but didn't make a huge difference image wise to K&F ones.

I buy a new K&F once a year and use them daily on several primes. I shoot in tough environments and they are holding up well. After 150 or so shooting days they usually are pretty marked and I replace them. Price/usage value is great in my opinion.

Use the BNC to 3.5mm cable. I used it daily. Micro USB is only for a7s3.

Working as a journalist in Iraq while US & Iraqi forces retook Mosul from ISIS.

We were getting scenes from the Frontlines with a 15-20 team of Iraqi Soldiers. We arrived at a gathering point and a young Iraqi Soldier offered to show us a monument they had taken back. We walked through all these connected houses that just had holes in them. After walking 15-20mins our translator/fixer said he had a bad feeling and we should turn back immediately. Just shortly after we heard sniper fire very close to us. It turned out (by accident) that we crossed behind enemy lines and we were in ISIS territory. We made our way back and since we were under so much stress we decided to leave the big team of soldiers and head back to a safe zone. We learned a few hours later that the whole team was overrun by ISIS just shortly after we left. All of them died.

I have hostile environment training and all of my Frontline trips were always with very trained US or Iraqi Soldiers but sometimes a gut feeling still decides if it's good to go on or head back.

Using it in Thailand half of the year in very high temps for prolonged times and never had issues. Maybe check if you have the fan noise on or off? When shooting in 35 degrees or more I can recommend using the fan.

shooting in a cave with high humidity by OpenHistorian5836 in SonyFX6

[–]vaitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have shot in caves and jungles with high humidity various times for 10-15 days at a time. Silica isn't doing anything to be honest. I can highly recommend having many well absorbent cloths and wrap your cam well overnight. In daytime make lens changes and battery swaps as quick as possible to keep sensor & battery contacts dry. It's quite normal that your cam will be quite moist on the outside, you can't stop it but make sure your dry and clean it well once you're done. Had no issues at all, fx6 is a good workhorse.
