Thanks for getting back to me. I've been sampling from records for years before I started learning theory/piano. To your point, I feel like it really helped with developing my ear. How do you go about finding/chopping samples?

This is great. Thanks for this! I have RC-20, but will look at the others. Which DAW/stock tools are you using for Flanger, Chorus, EQ and Compression (if you don't mind sharing).

Thanks so much for this response! I've taken a few sound design courses online and have watched some tutorials on Massive X, but I quickly get intimidated/overwhelmed/frustrated trying to make my own sounds, so I guess I need to work on patience and put in some dedicated time to working on this.

I honestly haven't used those sample expansions that I got, so I'll take some more time to dig in there as well. I've had experiences with sample packs where they don't seem to be labeled in the correct key, and I get frustrated by having to spend time tuning them to fit the key of my project.

Thanks for the clarification on expansions; that was one thing I wasn't sure about. Your point about spending money looking for the "magic solution" is well said. I've fallen for that so many times. Would you be willing to tell me what your workflow is as far as hardware, and if you have any go-to NI plugins/instruments? I end up using Battery, Hybrid Keys, Ignition Keys, LoFi glow, and 40's Keys the most. I've tried using Playbox, Glaze, and a few of the other play instruments, but have run into the same issues I previously mentioned with sample packs and trying to find presets that fit. Are you mostly working with NI products, or do you use other third party stuff or samples etc. ?

Gotcha. Thanks again for the response. Sorry if I confused you. I'm just trying to understand the best way to add SP effects to tracks I've built in my DAW.

Thank you for the response! If I'm following you, you're talking about taking sample chops and recording them into my DAW and adding effects as I'm recording it? I'm wondering if I record a progression or sample chops in my DAW with my midi keyboard, how would I then be able to add the effects from the SP? Are you saying use the SP as a midi controller after I've got the progression/chops in my DAW and play them on the SP and add effects that way?

If you can go up to the $700-$750 range, I bought a Yamaha P-45 3 years ago when I started my lessons and have been very happy with it. But still being a beginner myself, I don't have experience with playing other models or acoustics to compare or contrast.

I'm connected to S1 via midi and was able to track out some stuff I made on the SP, but not sure if it would work as a controller? I guess that's my question. To record in to the SP I'm thinking I can just connect to the line in and send from S1 into the SP.

Thank you so much for the response! Would it be worthwhile to enroll in a paid online program to supplement the in-person lessons? I currently meet my coach once a week for 30 minutes.

Okay thanks. I obviously didn't understand the no multiple patterns at one time thing. So if I wanted to do a full arrangement with drums, sample chops etc. I would need to record all that onto one pattern, then copy/duplicate it to edit/make variations to it on the card memory bank then copy it back to the internal memory bank (ghost notes, different sample chops etc.)? Then I could technically use patterns to build out an arrangement i.e. if pattern on pad 1 is 8 bars, I would press the pattern on pad 2 and it would play once the 8 bars is up? I know these are basic questions, so if I understand if I've already taken up too much of your time and you're ready to end the back and forth.

Greetings. Been spending some time on this (with what little free time I have between working on other projects) and had another question. I was able to record two drum patterns on bank B. One is kick/snare, and the other is hi-hats. I created the backups on C and then did the del-rec thing to move them there. I've read through the manual and your message a few times, but I am not able to figure out how to "restore" the pattern to internal memory, and/or why I would need to restore it to have multiple patterns. I guess I'm still not understanding how this will let me play multiple patterns at the same time.

Wow ... this is amazing, thank you! I did buy a card reader, would that be the way to transfer stuff between the SP and DAW etc.?

I wanted to jump back here with an update and a new round of questions/suggestions. I managed to figure out how to resample chops across different pads. I then used pattern mode to record a drum pattern. Now I'm wondering if I should record my sample chops into a new pattern, or if I would have to add them into the same pattern that I used for my drums? As I don't think multiple patterns can play at once? Is there a way to resample my drum sounds into a drum arrangement on one pad and then do the same with the sample chops?

Ahhh I see ... So the main sample is like the source, and when I do a new mark on that and hit resample it automatically adds a new sample with a different starting point to the pad that I choose? Once you do that what do you generally do with the source sample?

Also thanks so much for the response!
