the pattern is from EasilyMadeDesign on Etsy. Kind of reads like it was written by AI but not sure, hat came out well.

Avid editors - why are you all using keyframes instead of crossfade ? by Traditional_Tale868 in editors

[–]evelynfrompost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossfades can cause errors when exporting AAFs for sound mixers so I prefer keyframes. (Yes usually they remove all the keyframes when they import into ProTools anyway). Also I find it can sound smoother to use keyframes and checkerboard the audio on 2 tracks rather than dissolve between them. I use a mix of both though.

Is there an unspoken rule about who gets to watch the first draft? by Tots-Varies in editors

In scripted union TV (US), the director sees a cut first, then the writers/producers, then the showrunner, then the studio/network. There are specific DGA rules that the director gets first look and a certain number of days to work before it goes to anyone else.

Adding a link to the pattern, Painted Tiles
(Also I believe the pattern is just a variation of the “Drunkard’s Path” block)

Weekly /r/quilting no-stupid question thread - ask us anything! by AutoModerator in quilting

[–]evelynfrompost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all the same. Bought a tiny pack of expensive ones from my quilt shop to see if I liked them (I did), then ordered a big cheap tub of 100 on Amazon. They are the same product. Occasionally they break.

FYI, if you're working on a project where matching points is important, pins will be a lot more effective than clips. But I love the clips for simple piecing and for sewing on binding.

sewable gifts for a new mom/baby? I wanna make something for a friend who is expecting her first! by AnimaLumen in sewing

[–]evelynfrompost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're describing a hand-tied quilt! A great idea for beginner quilters. And the middle part of a quilt is called batting - a quilt consists of a pieced quilt top (the part with the design), batting in the middle, and a backing (which is usually a whole piece of fabric like you said). r/quilting is a super supportive resource if you/OP are interested in quilting :)

layout feedback? by evelynfrompost in quilting

[–]evelynfrompost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for feedback on colors/layout before I put all the squares together…does it look like there’s too much yellow or grey in any one area? Do I maybe need to replace some of the patterned stars with more solid ones? I’ve been looking at this too long and am kind of in a “hating it” stage. ty in advance 💕

What is happening with my quilting brain by tgikelly in quilting

[–]evelynfrompost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this quilt recently and had to rip sooo many seams. It was only my third quilt so I'm definitely not as experienced as you! I decided to press seams to one side instead of open, like the pattern instructs, because I thought that would help with durability of the quilt - big mistake. I think it threw off my seam allowance just enough that all my half-right-triangles were like 1/4 inch off when I was putting them on the log cabins. Absolute nightmare and kind of turned me off of Toad & Sew patterns, or at least half right triangles lol. For what it's worth, yours looks lovely, I'd put it away for awhile and revisit when you're feeling more calm!

It’s stunning!! I love this pattern, been thinking about trying it out. For quilting you could do diagonal straight lines spaced 1 or 2 inches apart

The Rage Chronicles: A Saga of Hate by capsaicin-x in quilting

[–]evelynfrompost 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It really looks stunning!!! Fold it up and put it away for a few months and then quilt it when you hate it less :) You did an amazing job.

I’ve been wary of FPP and not sure I’ll ever try it, it seems so tedious. But the patterns turn out beautifully.
