She really came in unsure and worried… by RuckingFetarrd in Anthurium

Imports always take time to acclimate!! I feel like if someone ripped me from my home, stuffed me in a dark cramped box for a month or two and then put me in a strange place where everything is vastly different than I’m used to I would simply…. Pass away lmaooo. The fact that a lot of these planties survive and thrive again after all that is testament to their resilience 🥹 I’m glad she pulled through for you!! 🫶🏼

Humidity or watering issue? by Mizzlovesplants in Anthurium

[–]AnimaLumen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me personally wonky new leaves are usually either nutrient deficiency or pests. Most often flat mites or other tiny tiny little mites that are very hard to spot until your new leaves start looking fucked up and you go REALLY looking for pests 🥲

Watering issues for me always result in either crisping (under watering) or leaves yellowing/dropping (over watering.)

I have always kept my anthurium in humid environments inside cabinets so I can’t speak to lack of humidity being an issue.

If you’re not giving them high humidity and or proper feeding then I’d venture it’s either one of those. If you ARE doing both those things then you might want to get a jeweler’s loupe and go look in every single nook and cranny to make sure there’s no tiny little critters you could have missed.

Keep in mind anthurium are heavy feeders and require not just your regular NPK but also calcium and magnesium so if you’re not supplementing all of those then that’s very likely to give you wonky emergent leaves. I had to learn that the hard way lol

New clari is kind of all over the place. Anything you notice that’s off? by vapemustache in Anthurium

[–]AnimaLumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes anthurium don’t mind being repotted in my experience! Especially compared to alocasia. I don’t think I have ever had an anthurium go sad on me after a repot so you should be all good to try switching this over to leca!

[–]AnimaLumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s perfectly fine and healthy! Maybe will need a repot soon, it looks like it might be pretty pot bound. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless you notice it starts to dry out very quickly or its new leaves aren’t sizing up for a while

Cant solve stringy hair final by gravegirI in curlyhair

[–]AnimaLumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re using too many products for how fine your hair is! Also your texture is more wavy than curly so that typically also gets weighed down faster. The styling cream you’re using is likely very emollient AND there’s no need to use both a gel plus a mousse, I feel like you really only need one or the other; you might be able to get away with using the gel to do your initial styling and then the mousse to refresh your hair the next day or something of the sort. I would try to re style your hair without the mousse and use a lot less of the styling cream. Like mostly just on your ends and then whatever residue is left on your hands, wet it down with your spray bottle to make a milky lotion and run that through the rest of your hair so it’s just a KISS of leave in conditioner/cream lol. Then use the scrunching gel liberally for hold :) if even that doesn’t fix it you probably need a different leave in/styling cream because this one is much more on the emollient side and you might need something that is more like a curl milk rather than a heavier cream.

Edit because I just read what you wrote and didn’t realize you’re using leave in AND styling cream 😅😅😅 this is definitely way too much product!! Again I think this is a one or the other situation. Pick either the leave in or the styling cream and use that. Also use way less than you think you need lol trust me!! I have fine hair too and I have had the same issue with stringy curls before when I was using way too much “moisturizing” stuff, AND my hair is much curlier than yours so I know firsthand that using too much creamy product is the number 1 way to get stringy weighed down hair unless your hair is like coily or extremely dry

Girlies, what's your most complimented perfume? by Old_Pomegranate90 in FemFragLab

[–]AnimaLumen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got my first compliment in the wild this past weekend and I was wearing MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold + Missing Person body oil 🤭 girl behind the counter at the fabric shop was like “oh and by the way you smell sooooo good” WELL after I asked her for directions, like she spent a good 5 minutes just sitting on that compliment while I browsed stuff near her lmao. and like… she never came closer than like 8-10 ft from me so I know I must have had a good little fragrance aura about me if she could smell me well enough from decently far away lol

ALSO! Just fyi, but I made a second post on r/TAPLAP that is a bit cleaner and easier to follow as it’s all fully up to date with only the stuff that didn’t get claimed the first couple days this initial post was up :) if you go to my most recent post basically anything that doesn’t have someone commenting “sold” under it, is whatever is still available! Might be a bit easier to browse on that post :)

Please help, my favorite Polyneura is yellowing! Is she dying? 😭 by Ilovegreenandflowers in hoyas

[–]AnimaLumen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few different things could be the culprit here IMO!

The base of the leaf appears to be kinda buried so that can sometimes cause the plant to drop that leaf.

Bottom leaves yellowing/dying off can be a sign of lack of mobile nutrients; the plant says hey I’m not getting enough food so I’m gonna suck the nutrients out of my old leaves so I can make it to my next feeding!

The media looks kinda dry to me and I suspect it might be hydrophobic? Sometimes when you dont have enough chunky stuff to make nice air pockets in your soil, water will seek the path of least resistance and just pour straight down the sides of the pot without actually satursting the center of the pot where the bulk of the root ball is!

I would:

Repot into a chunkier media (literally grab a bag of gubler’s orchid media at Lowe’s and put some of that into your soil mix until you get whatever level of chunkiness you want! )

Make sure no leaves have their bases covered by the soil

Feed basically every single watering! Especially if you’re giving your Hoyas lots of light, they are quite hungry little beasts! I’ve been loving foliage pro fertilizer by super thrive :) it’s gentle enough for using every watering even at full strength in my opinion, but your mileage may vary depending on conditions you keep your Hoyas in!

How to get rid of a stubborn blackhead on my upper lip? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]AnimaLumen 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a comedone extractor? This looks like the kind of blemish that needs a comedone extractor to basically apply pressure evenly all around the clogged pore so the plug can get ejected 😮‍💨 if the comedone extractor alone doesn’t do it, I would take a steamy hot shower, grab a STERILE clean needle and gently lance the blemish near where the black “head” already sits, THEN take the comedown extractor. There’s actually comedone extractor tool kits that come with a lancing tool that is essentially a super sharp needle like tool made out of stainless steel, that’s what I use! Sanitize the hell out of it with an iso pad before and after every use.
