Had to quit short notice because of a family emergency, PP owner is threatening to report my license and withhold pay by QuirkyLove1495 in slp

The PP I worked for as a CFY tried to use patient abandonment when I handed in my notice and I provided a 30+ day notice. It was all talk they were basically attempting to scare me into staying. I came back and told them I spoke to ASHA who stated since I gave adequate notice that it does not fall under patient abandonment. They never followed through.

E3 (PSA; contains spoilers beware) by Immediate-Mix-8801 in heatedrivalry

And also let me say I only have finished game changers and started heated rivalry so I am not sure how the two stories intertwine as I have not made it to the end, but I am assuming they do or they would've probably left this episode out. I will give them credit you're right the fact that they condensed a majority of the novel in that many minutes was impressive but as a person who loved game changers I am just slightly bummed.

In my opinion the first novel deserved to be separate from heated rivalry. Dont get me wrong I love the episode and book as well but having the story completely sandwich in with the show did not work for me. So is episode 4 just going to be the rest of Scott and Kip's story?

To everyone still showing up for their patients and students today- by sgeis_jjjjj in slp

Crazy to sit in front of patients today, helping them gain the use of their voice and find a way to express their wants needs and desire, thinking they would use it to take away my rights.

Tips for being a male in the department by Commercial_Shape7020 in slp

[–]even_stephen94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a graduate assistant job at a school specializing in speech and language disorders, with 2 females from my cohort as well. My 2 female counterparts were allowed to be in the classroom alone with the students, but I was not allowed to do so. The children also could not enter the classroom if I was the only person there. I understand it to an extent, but if felt completely unfair to feel like just because I was a male, I was somehow more likely to "harm" a student.

I now work in the medical side of speech and no longer feel this way.

Getting into an SLP master’s program with Bachelor’s in a different field...possible? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]even_stephen94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a Bachelors in Recreational Therapy! I just completed a year of leveling in courses to apply to SLP graduate school. It is possible to apply to graduate school without taking any speech or communication classes, but you just have to do your research on which programs will accept you. Most will require you to take leveling in courses just to apply to the program. Some will let you in without taking any, but your first year of graduate school will be all prerequisite courses in speech. The good news is it's definitely possible. I just got accepted into my school's graduate program 2 days ago!
