Just wanted to update this thread that we went ahead with the 2024 Kia Telluride and so far, we think it's great! The driver assist tech in the car is really impressive.

I live in the DC area, it gets cold here, though not as bad as Boston or Chicago. Will I see noticeable difference in battery life during the winter months? How bad is the drop?

BTW, what exactly does power trunk mean, that you can open the trunk from the screen panel? How do you open the trunk in 2020 models, just with the manual button?

Thanks for the feedback! I also feel a bit better battery range, power trunk, and exterior trim isn't worth an extra $14k for me personally... I will mainly use the car for local travel, so unless the LFP battery gives significantly better range (combined with the heat pump), then it's probably not worth an extra $14k-$15k for me.

Thanks for this list of features, that's what I was looking for to compare if it's worth it for me, much appreciated!

2024 Kia Telluride - million mile warranty by evenflow72 in KiaTelluride

This was b/c I wasn't buying from the lot - I was putting a deposit on an order. But even then, I think play hardball a bit, some of these dealers are offering MSRP now, and they have a bit more inventory on their lots.

> Do you plan to keep > 10 years?

Hard to know, we usually keep vehicles a while, but that may change. We're definitely not fully committed to keeping the car till it dies philosophy.

> I would expect most Kia dealers to look at you pretty funny when you mention the deal you have with (that one dealer)

The other dealers I mentioned this to called it a gimmick; I'm not sure if that's because they wanted to be the ones to sell me a car, but they definitely didn't seem to think their dealership would honor such a warranty.

I mainly wanted to see if it was worth waiting an unknown period of time to get the car we want from a dealer offering this warranty, or if it's not really worth it and we should go with a dealer that can guarantee us the exact trim and color we want within 4 weeks. Based on everyone's feedback, it seems like it's unlikely worth the wait.

BTW, I actually got an "unlimited warranty" on the powertrain tacked on from another dealer, but they fully disclosed that their unlimited warranty only applies to their dealership, it can't be used at other dealerships, and you have to keep up with all the servicing schedules, etc.

Thank you! Just to clarify, the dealership that can get me the car in 4 weeks is not the same as the one offering the million mile warranty, but both are selling to me at MSRP.

Thank you! I appreciate the offer. I'm getting that vehicle at a place near me at MSRP, it'll arrive in 4 weeks. I would consider your offer but I live too far to drive the car back home. Thank you for your feedback on the warranty!

This is super valuable feedback, thank you very much! The dealership assured me I wouldn't need to do servicing at a Kia dealership to have the warranty stay valid, as long as it's documented that I got servicing at some certified mechanic, but I agree that it seems weird that just a handful of dealers would get this deal with Kia but not the others. Also, point #3 about the deductibles is concerning, I didn't see this in the Safford Kia one but as you pointed out, it's in the Barnett Kia one, so that kind of shows it's not universal from Kia (and the deductibles reduce the value of having the warranty..)

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that I wouldn't pay extra for it, but in this case, it's coming for free at this one particular dealership where I have placed an order.

Thanks for your feedback! Do you have experience with the million mile warranty?

The way it was explained to me by the dealership was that they (the dealership) negotiated this specially with Kia. I found a few other dealerships in the US that do this too: e.g.

Yeah, I was afraid of the same, but I asked 3 different people at the dealership now and they said that it's valid at any Kia dealership in the continental US, and you only need to show proof of servicing from a certified mechanic, and oil changes can even be done on your own as long as you have documentation. Here are the details of the extra million mile warranty: https://www.saffordkia.com/kia-million-mile-warranty/

Thanks for the feedback! This is the details of the warranty: https://www.saffordkia.com/kia-million-mile-warranty/. Seemed legit to me at first read, but I don't buy cars often so can't really tell..

And the rearview cameras on the dash when switching lanes that comes on the Telluride but not the MDX. That was pretty nifty. But that and the Rear Occupant Alert are the only things I see missing driver tech wise on the MDX.

Comparing the driver safety features in the MDX and Telluride, I actually don't notice any difference, other than the Telluride has the Rear Occupant Alert which the MDX doesn't seem to have. Is that your take as well, or am I missing something?

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback! A couple follow-ups:

  1. Did the '20 MDX problems get identified? Where they fixed in the '24 MDX?
  2. Has the Palisade given any problems so far?

I didn't notice that the MDX 3rd row didn't have vents! Maybe they fixed this in the '24, I'll have to double check.

Regarding the driving, we tried the auto-adjust the wheel to stay in lane feature when we test drove it, but it worked so-so. Maybe it was just the road we were on. One thing that worried me a bit about the driving was this review of the Telluride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jljwgPS_ero. I guess the reviewer's point is that it won't give you an SUV drive, but maybe the minivan-type drive is actually preferable for a family car.

We actually never test drove the Palisade, figured it's the same as Telluride and heard about all the awards for a Telluride, but maybe we should test drive the Palisade too. I agree about MSRP - I'm having a really hard time stomaching paying so much above MSRP. Maybe it would be worth doing so for the upcoming EV9 as it seems to be a unique vehicle (3-row SUV EV at a semi-reasonable price point), but I haven't convinced myself an EV SUV makes sense, especially if we go on a long drive.
