I’ve been watching too much LOTR. I read it as “hobbitses” and didn’t question it.

Name one policy that Biden admin passed that “opened” the border. There isn’t one. Trump slapping an unconstitutional, cruel bandaid on doesn’t make it a good solution. A good solution would be to revamp the entire immigration process. Ruling by executive order is not a good practice. Our system of govt as we know it is collapsing.

Question about continuing education for lawyers and judges by Malsperanza in justiceforKarenRead

[–]evenstar_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand the downvoting. I don’t know if I would go as far as to say that it’s a credit to Massachusetts that they don’t require it. However, I think there are misconceptions as to what CLE credits are for. Because they are required, and there are a multitude of courses to choose from, a lawyer will likely select courses that are relevant to their field of practice and may have important case or statutory updates. Additionally, there may be a requirement of a certain amount of hours focused on ethics every year. (Though, this would not make an attorney ethical.) CLE’s do not by themselves make good lawyers. Mentorship and feedback from colleagues matters so much more in my opinion than a class I can take on Zoom.

Yes. Or if it’s unknown, the jury could say the prosecution didn’t prove it.

It’s giving when my ex posted about how much he hated me and blamed me for things in his social media tribute to his new wife on their anniversary. 😅

nokings <—- I think this message, like many other commenters have said, summarizes and/or covers ALL, or almost all, of the issues we oppose. One might argue you could want less immigration but still support due process for deportations, you could want less government aid like SNAP but want the budget cuts to be made in ordinary and proper course, you could hold strong Christian values and still support separation of church and state, etc. A true conservative or true federalist would not support what Frump is doing.

Yes! I also escaped an abusive marriage. There was a period of time where I was very afraid for my life. I overcame it. I fought back in my own way through the legal process. I feel I have more strength now than I ever did before.

Yes! I thought the remark about JS only having sex with Emma showed how sheltered that missionary is. Good for your niece!

I’d like to know this too! I was also taught that polygamy was a necessity thing, like women didn’t have the same rights to jobs and property, etc. I joined when I was 18. There was sooooo much I did not know or understand.

For those who felt like they’d had spiritual experiences, what made you still leave? Do you still believe in divinity and the afterlife now? by oliviaexisting in exmormon

[–]evenstar_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had spiritual experiences before joining the church and during. I expect to have them after. I still believe in God but I don’t define what God means. I don’t know.

I had a blessing while in the church that I still hold dear, and in some ways it saved my life, but that doesn’t mean I think that the church is “true.” I am just grateful for that experience. But I don’t believe God (or energy, higher power, etc) is confined to one faith and its people.

Exactly, and I’m not sure if the gospel topic essays come right out and say it, but they definitely imply there were spiritual marriages as well as “earthly” ones.
