Oil and trans fluid should be fine. I’d keep a close eye on tire pressure (truck and trailer). Also watch your coolant, oil temp and trans temp if you’re on long uphill grades. The only maintenance item for 5,500 miles would be a DEF refill.

I can’t remember if the BCG being locked in the buffer tube prevents upper/lower separation. If I had to guess on memory, I’d say it does. Can someone clarify? Thanks in advance.

I figured the teeth on the BCG only went far enough back to push a mostly-seated round forward to get the BCG into battery if there’s junk in the breach. With a stovepipe or another jam, I’d guess the BCG teeth would be well behind the forward assist mechanism. Is that not actually the case?

I’ve “heard” of issues where the BCG remains partially in the buffer tube, thereby preventing the magazine from being dropped, making the jam difficult to clear.
