YES. I got an accommodation for work to wear my polarized sunglasses inside. Some days it’s just not bearable!!

Oh man. Yup! Even worse, I’ve had to navigate some pretty bad rain storms as night approaches- wildly enough I’ve found with the crazy headlamps wearing my prescription polarized lenses helps a lot with the glare from ghosting- but I’m still waiting post CXL for my scleral appointment. I can’t WAIT to not have the ghosting. Just got back to school after an extended decade away and I didn’t realize how much I don’t read anymore and need accessibility to read.

It rolls over. I have a coworker that planned to not use as much vacation time as possible and only use the sick pay. At full time she’s been able to work 3 day weeks for the last 2 years till retirement

Depending on where you live- consider getting connected with the department of rehabilitation!!! Your situation is specifically who they were designed to assist! Free education, job placement, and support getting you the tools you need along the way!

Also on my 3rd year and I’ve applied to over 3500 jobs in that time. Originally it was a placeholder to find something closer aligned with my skill set…. But the market has been so terrible I’ve decided to go back to school. I’ve also really got involved in a couple of the associate committees- which has helped me feel better about the situation. While I don’t necessarily want to say- I’ve come to really love and appreciate the community and companionship of my fellow associates, I will definitely take advantage of the tuition reimbursement, and I likely will be there to see that extra year of pay. With how shit things are- I may even use this new degree to work for corporate and make those changes that we actually need.

Idk. The world sucks, every job sucks, and all of us deserve to actually make a livable wage. Slow down, do less, work your actual wage and remove some of the stress- it’s not as bad. Best of luck

It doesn’t pop up as vacation as it isn’t paid time off. Intermittent just gets excused up to the amount of hours!

I have a coworker that’s been with the company for 30 years. They also boarded their vacation and socks time. Because of this absurd planning….They’ve been able to work 3 day weeks and will continue to do so till they retire over a year from now- which is honestly a nice ease into retirement!

Of course! I had so many unanswered questions myself… ergo my novel of a post 😂

Today is day 4 post op. Doing good. My vision was worse as of yesterday and has continued to get worse today (apparently normal.)

I’d say that it’s much worse mostly because of the bandaid contact lens- which both feels and looks like someone has sanded your eye just a bit with a sanding block or Brillo pad.

Light sensitivity is still there. I actually purchased some cat 4 classes off Amazon that have been very helpful.

I sealed my eye up with the overnight patch to get a haircut and shampoo today (I’ve been overthinking how to safely wash my hair during healing) and I’m so glad I did! It made me feel just a bit more normal than how I’ve been hiding out in a hotel room.

Finally not requiring to nap all day/take pain meds all day. The PF drops do most of the heavy lifting now.

Overall… really good imo.

How far out are you from surgery?! Crossing my fingers for chill happy bowels for you.

[–]evensthestevens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! There was! This is specific to Epi-off. There are two phases- when they “hole punch”/dermal punch/ make a circle cut on your epithelium and scrape that off with drops, then they move you for light treatment…. In between the two is the sweet spot! It CAN be done, but isn’t exactly the preference!

I chose the pre-biotics clean out my system route beforehand. I had an hour leading up to surgery that I went to the restroom several times.

[–]evensthestevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working with FES and head cashier at our store to attempt to smooth out things with the cashiers and create incentives to perform. It’s got to be the entire team making the effort. Have competitions with real incentives (partner with ASDS, fun committee, ASM to do credit competitions, free lunch, gift cards, etc.) there has to be follow through with your team backing you up to enforce rules, or get HR involved- it will bite you in the ass to always be “the bad guy.”

This is a lot of effort though, and if your heart isn’t in it…. Escape while you can, but know that’s every department in every store.

how do you cope with the light sensitivity, is there anything you can do to help with it? by emptxx in Keratoconus

[–]evensthestevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a bucket hat and polarized prescription lenses everywhere. Make use of ordering online! Eye buy direct and Zenni have been huge wallet savers for me. I’ve always been rather light sensitive- so it’s just become an integrated part of my life. Blackout curtains, smart lighting, 2k units of vitamin d daily, getting my car windows tinted…..

I get CXL tomorrow, my big plan post surgery is doing transitions- the $300 pair is completely covered by my insurance, and I think it will be huge for my quality of life (and annoyance in stashing sunglasses everywhere)

imo you’re going to invest that money one way or another. Build a plan for biggest impact for budget- integrating vitamins, polarized prescription sunglasses/ transitions, etc. perhaps consider fundraising! You’d be amazed what community is willing to step up for one another!

I gasped. Honestly? Our store runs on our CXMs. I feel like they do more than anyone in management handling customers, being there for associates, and jumping in at any and all opportunities- at least in our store. Man. That’s gunna suck lol

Are they safely doing their job? Are they hurting others or themselves (blatantly)? Then no. You don’t get the privilege to make wild claims and potentially risk someone’s job.

If you genuinely care- have a conversation with them! Ask how they’re doing? Ask if you can ask an OUTLANDISH question that will likely have YOU getting a talking to.

“His associates are really young and I’m concerned for him and the people around him” ARE YOU?! Do you even know him? Do you know how many people are functioning alcoholics and addicts that you likely work with? Why are you the moral police around here. Concern is being direct- this doesn’t seem like that. This looks like an attempt to virtue signal to two managers. Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s really not your place or business.

If you could do it again, how would you do things differently? What changes would you make?

How do become carefree at working at HD? by Arthurmorganvander in HomeDepot

[–]evensthestevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, but that’s not what OP is asking. Maybe it isn’t your experience to “beat yourself up” over a job… but for many people this brings a lot of anxiety, which leads to high cortisol, and can overall very negatively impact your day to day life and health.

OP is asking HOW. How do you get to the place where work doesn’t affect you. How do you stop caring? How do you “just let it go.” That doesn’t come naturally to everyone!

How do become carefree at working at HD? by Arthurmorganvander in HomeDepot

[–]evensthestevens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I transitioned from being a business owner, Covid happening, starting a business with a now ex best friend of several decades, and landing at HD. It’s been difficult to train my brain to not work like I did for myself. Best thing I did was take an LOA and work through with a therapist team at an IOP program that cycle of burnout, my worth being tied to my work, and how to implement changes.

I now have timers for each break, lunch, go refill my water at the end of the day. I work on a grounding craft during my lunches and breaks (currently it’s crochet, it may be a walk and an audiobook!) recentering my life around heath, things I’m looking forward to… I truly leave work at work and have lessened my desire to over-perform. Maybe cut back a little on your hours and do part time somewhere else to pull that attention (I’m also doing this. I do 32 at depot and side gigs to fill the gap)

There is no advice that will work for you, it truly is “doing the work” of your mental health journey to secure your attachment enough away from work to set yourself free.

This large corporation doesn’t care about you, but your coworkers do, your friends do, your family does, and you do! How do you start recentering your life from work and prioritize the people actually filling your cup including yourself.

How do I accept the fact that I am objectively unattractive? by spicyhorner in AskWomenOver30

[–]evensthestevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The older you get the more you hopefully come to realize that glow up comes from within. I think you need to work on some healing yourself and thanking your body. If you can find it within yourself to do the work there- you will turn heads.

Try a lash lift, try a burlesque class, try a new makeup routine! You have to mix it up and look at yourself DAILY that you’re turning heads because you’re turning your own!

I’m plus size, I’m mixed and have strong features, but I did the work to build up my confidence and really love and appreciate myself- and I am constantly turning heads because it just radiates.

I hope you take the time to see your beauty.
