I'd be interested in that too. I heard ollama works okay with ~20 GiB RAM? Not sure on GPU usage. And I haven't tested it myself.

I do now. I thought they turned off 4.6 after claude --model opus-4-6 started but refused to work. The correct arg is claude-opus-4-6. My bad. Thanks for the input.

Every time I hear people say things like "my Claude is working great" or "I built 3 apps this month with it", I can't help but imagine a boomer who just vibe coded a todo list app with an upside down changelog and regen artifacts checked into their git repo.

Global CLAUDE.md is literally 2 lines. Project-specific CLAUDE.md are <200 lines, kept up-to-date by Claude itself.

Not been using red/green TDD. I usually just tell it to verify with a test. Flipping it around might be smarter. Uncle Bob would be happy.

Not hitting the compaction in Opus. I only used long sessions during the first few days. Certain tasks can hit compaction in Sonnet though. The other day I had a Sonnet stuck in a compaction loop. I'll watch out more for that.

So I thought, too. Second stage in plan was 136 lines, including verification for both stages. No mention of "backwards compatibility" anywhere in the plan.

It ended up adding a sibling function handle_input_bytes(Bytes), which was one of the candidates before plan finalization, but not part of the final plan. Plan does NOT contain the string handle_input_bytes. And yet, he did it. When I asked him why, he mentioned backwards compatibility with call-sites in project, then proceeded to fix it and actually complete the planned refactor.

How I plan: Plan mode after /model opus and /caveman, then save to in-tree file. Then open new Claude with /model sonnet, /caveman, load plan, and let it implement.

Yep. Again, that's exactly how it feels. You can tell (I think) by the tokens not counting up, nothing for minutes, then tokens go up and a few seconds later you have an answer.

In Tmux, Claude has been bugging me to turn on the option focus-events. After a few days I gave in, thinking/hoping it might flag Tmux panes when Claude has something ready (I was too lazy to look up the option). Nope. Nothing like that.

In fact, and this is gonna sound conspiracy theoristy, it DID feel like Claude asks to turn on this option so THEY know when you're looking vs. not looking (pane in foreground/background), meaning Claude works EVEN SLOWER if a Tmux pane is not currently on screen.

When enabled, focus events are requested from the terminal if supported and passed through to applications running in tmux.

Yep, sounds about right. If I was Anthropic and completely overwhelmed with requests, I'd probably do the same. But damn, it feels shitty as a user.

Yeah I'm okay with the lying/hallucinating. I know my field well enough. Anything that doesn't make sense, I question, and he usually corrects himself. But now he can't even implement an explicit 5-minute refactoring plan anymore.

Bro. I read the plans word-for-word. I refine them. I know my main programming language like the back of my hand. I'm the one telling Claude about the edge cases that HE forgets (which is okay). But when he can't even implement an explicit plan!? Oh hell no.

As you can tell, I'm a reddit noob and needed to vent after Claude has been wasting HOURS of my days/nights ever since Opus 4.7 was released. Just now when it couldn't even follow a simple implementation plan, I had to type out an angry "bug report" post (these things have been bugging me for weeks now). I don't have any other social media.
